War Brides and their Children

Of late our Governmet is denying these women and their children pension,medical benefits etc.
Our Government is asking for proof,this after 60 years!!

They are not recognised as citizens under present Citizanship Regulatations.
Most have lost their records,most have lost thier husband, father who brought them here.

I find this disgusting!!!

But what's the point after 60yrs? What good could come out of this? Typical gov't screw-up as usual that messes up people's lives (those people who've probably actually been productive the whole time here, unlike others).

Just my opinion, please don't rag on me too hard if anyone disagrees!!

while that may be true, Micheal D, the changes to the regulations and the actual enforcement of them has only happened in the last couple yrs.

The fault is with the bureaucracy for turning a blind eye for the 55+ yrs. And then strictly enforcing the rules without informing the public.

It goes against common sense...that rare commodity in Canada that is about to go extinct.

On a personal note my Sister in Law was a War Bride, she and her daughter arrived here in 1946. I believe that was prior to the advent of Canadian Citizenship and that they were automatically awarded Citizenship at the time of its inception. For more information visit:
