wearing military clothes off base

hey guys, got a question if anyone can help me out

awhile back i remember reading that you arnt suppose to wear your cadpat or any kind of military outfit off base or anytime your not on duty since you could get in trouble, what kind of trouble i dont remember though  :-\

lim a reservist, and lets say i took my cadpat hunting or outdoor paintballing, (as an example) could i get in trouble by any authority about it? and if it was wrecked in any way like a cut in the pants or something, would i be able to return it for a newer pair or would i have to pay for them

and second off, if i lent someone a pair, and he got caught wearing it, could he get any problems also?

dont need any big legal answer to it lol, just looking for a basic straight forward type of answer

Firstly, wear your uniform only when you have to, such as training nights/weekends. Paintballing and wearing your uniform for whatever else reason is unacceptable.

Secondly, with regards to your other question about loaning it.. think "1 Man, 1 Kit"

First, waiting at the bus stop from your house to work and back, is acceptable.  But after work go to the bar, doing your personal grocery, this is not acceptable. 

This is only my opinion; if there is no need to wear uniform in public, please don't.  If this is only in the public transportation, I believe this is fine.  I agree with MikeM, ONE MAN, ONE KIT.

THe Cad Pat clothing is also a controlled item. If you lend them out an don't get them back you could very likely get in trouble.

legal trouble, son, legal trouble. Like, get a yourself an Officer to Assist you, take your hat off, double quick time, "Lef'RightLef'Right!"
That there be why your Leave Pass has a li'l check in the box sayin' somethin' along the lines of "Permission to wear uniform?" (You wanna wear your uniform, you write a memo sayin' why."

pay. In many ways. You have broken several different rules, here, my son, my son. Destruction of DND Property while unlawfully using said item, will draw disfavour upon your head, and boot toes to your rear.

Yes, and No. Mostly you. Only now you're payin' the price for two people's mistakes.

Bottom line: Wear your uniform when you're supposed to. It is not a toy. It is not a fashion statement. It is a symbol of a covenant you have agreed to. Any foolishness you get into while wearing same reflects poorly upon all of us who also wear it. We have enough problems without adding more to our plate...

I've never worn my combats to outside activities off hours,but I do wear some of the issued stuff hunting.(long underware,fleece top,WW boots and gloves).To prevent myself from getting flamed all over the place,I do wear these items under my hunting coveralls,so nobody really sees any of it.I also have been known to use some of my kitshop stuff (stealth suit,camelbak,fleece toque)during off hours for various activities,and have never had any problems.
The wearing of your complete uniform to non sanctioned events(IE,paintball games,night clubs and the high school prom)I believe is against regulations and could end up with bad results for any person caught.

Next time, speak with your chain of command first before posting a question like this.  I'm sure there are competent senior pers to sort your misguided thoughts on the use of Her Majesty's Uniform.  Common sense prevails here. 

Questions of this nature merely fuel the fires for Reserve/Reg flame wars and misconceptions.

Bottom line: Wear your uniform when you're supposed to. It is not a toy. It is not a fashion statement. It is a symbol of a covenant you have agreed to. Any foolishness you get into while wearing same reflects poorly upon all of us who also wear it. We have enough problems without adding more to our plate...

More than common sense prevails...  There are ample regulations for these things.  From CF Dress Regs:

36.Regular Force. Unless otherwise directed, all ranks:

    a. on duty shall wear the prescribed uniform; and

    b. when not on duty may wear civilian clothes.

38. Reserve Force. Members of the Reserve Force shall not wear uniform except when:

a. on duty, or proceeding to or from their place of duty;

b. attending a military function or ceremony at which the wearing of uniform is appropriate; or

c. Reserve Force members on Class C employment are deemed to be in the Regular Force. See paragraph 36.

On use of uniform with civvy clothes:

...items of uniform shall not be worn with civilian attire, except for accessories and garments (e.g., top-coat, raincoat, gloves, scarf and footwear) which do not include any CF insignia and by themselves do not explicitly identify the wearer as a member of the CF.
