Hi,

Am wondering what I could do with a degree in Computer Science, minor in Business in the military? I have about another two, two and half years left in my program, so am also wondering about reserve jobs (that deal with computers) too.

Well completely honest, with the degree you could probably become an officer in any trade you want. I could be wrong though.

Ideally suited for CELE Officer, Signals Officer and NCS Eng, as you'll have a chance to at least use your degree somewhat.  Probably get your foot in the door for most other officer positions, except specialist officers.

We always need an officer to operate and maintain the entertainment system in the Wardroom at sea!  ;D  Now that we no longer have projectors, the pilots tend to concentrate on protecting their "crew rest" between non-flights in helicopters that don't work. >:D  The job of making the movies work now tends to fall to the Combat Systems Engineer ( CSE, a.k.a the Constantly Sleeping Engineer).

Thanks for the info guys, the CELE Officer and Signals Officer both look interesting. Am wondering how different they are from each other? I read the profiles and it seems like the CELE Officer would do more of the stuff I would like to do but that could just be how the profile was written. I would prefer to be in Army but would do Air Force if its a job I really want to do. Does any one know how different these two jobs are? Also, what would be the non commissioned job title for the CELE (like for Signals, its Signals Operator)?

ATIS Tech is to CELE Officer as LCIS Tech/Sig Op/Lineman is to Signals Officer.  I wouldn't try to draw too much of a connection between the officer and the NCM trades, though - their roles are much different.  As someone with a CS degree pursuing ATIS Tech, for example - you'd be overqualified in the IT department, but greatly underqualified in electronics knowledge.

If you like playing in the field, tents and such...Signals Officer is your bag.  If you like playing in hotels and messes, CELE Officer is where it's at.  ;D
