Hi there,

Ive been thinking about joining the regforce, since I am a single mother, having a steady income is important to me.
However, one of my children is special needs, so I also need to give this some extra hard thought as well.
At what point, after applying online, if I change my mind not to go through with the military - is it too late?
I tried searching a bit on here, and couldn't find the answer. Sorry if it's been brought up  before.

Thanks,

Stacey

If you haven't sworn in yet, then just phone the CFRC nearest to you, and tell them to cancel you're application.

Thanks Beaver!
Just wanted to make sure Im not commited to anything before hand :)

Until you accept a job offer and get sworn in (called attestation) you are in control of your destiny. Once you are enrolled and arrive at BMQ (Basic Training) you are committed. You can still get out after that but it is much easier to decide before your enrolment.  Apply, go through the process and if and when you have an offer, then decide.

CFR FCS

I suspect that you have other reasons for joining the CF other than a steady income.

I also do not like to discourage people from joining.

BUT...

Life in the Regular Force as a single parent is likely severely challenging, depending to some degree upon one's classification/trade. As a single parent of a child that needs special care, that can only be more of a problem.

Have you given much thought to who would care for your child(ren) during lengthy absences and long/unusual hours at work?

A thread for you to read.

Haven't sworn in yet, but have date set... can i back out?

Sinple question...
Don't want to call the recruiting centre and pussy out, but do not know if its for me.
Or do i have to wait until BMQ to sign the voluntary release?

Thanks for the quick response:

However, i have already verbally accepted the offer from the recruitment centre.... Is it still alright to call and have this cancelled?
