I noticed this on the combat camera site. I‘ve seen it in a few pictures but I can‘t tell what it is. I‘m talking about the green rectangle with the black circle on it. It‘s just above where the magazine would go in on the guys C8.

Anybody know what it is?

It‘s a remote PTT for a PRR (new radio) The Brit‘s and Americans have the same one. We (in Afghanistan) are the first Canadians to use this radio operationaly. It‘s made by Marconi.

Perhaps so you dont have to take your hand off the rifle to operate the radio?

Doug,

I hope that post of yours is true! Because if it is then I think there is hope for us WRT purchasing good kit.

It‘s not bad. Like any remote, it has to be within range of your radio. Everyone in the platoons have one. You‘re right about it being on the rifle though, you don‘t have to take you‘re hand away to transmit, and that‘s a good thing! They don‘t stand up to water/rain very well at all though, which is not too much of a problem over here, but it could be...

No, its a British design. Pretty good little piece of kit for section level communication, I got to use it while working with the Brits overseas.
