Defence Research and Development Canada (DRDC) administers a Call for Proposals under the federal government's Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear and Explosive (CBRNE) Research and Technology Initiative (CRTI). The Program, administered through DRDC's Centre for Security Science (CSS), is designed to strengthen, through investments in science and technology (S&T), Canada's ability to prevent, prepare for, respond to, and recover from a CBRNE event.
The CRTI Program is in its second 5-year cycle with an emphasis on exploiting and sustaining S&T investments in the CBRNE domains (including Forensics and Psychosocial). DRDC CSS continues to move towards the use of a system-of-systems approach and the application of a Capability-Based Planning (CBP) Investment Model, to help identify investment priorities for all CRTI domains.
In CRTI Call for Proposals Call 9 there will be up to approximately $18 million available for new projects. CRTI is interested in receiving proposals for Call 9 across all domains which address the CRTI Investment Priority Areas as identified below (not in order of importance):
1. Risk Management
2. CBRNE Terrorism Defeat with emphasis on Explosives - Threat and Capabilities
3. Medical and Casualty Management
4. Public Confidence and Psycho-Social Behavioural Factors
5. National Security Investigation
6. Food and Agriculture Safety and Defence
7. CBRNE Detection (and Identification)
