Hey guys, sorry if this answer has been answered, I did a search, read through 10 out of 15 pages, my head hurts and I feel nauseous. So, here it is.

DH is in SQ (Wainright), grad on March 9.
Week or 2 PAT.
Starts BIQ (by the way, is BIQ 8 or 10 weeks?)

Do we get our posting after SQ, during BIQ or at the end of it all? And if it is during BIQ, what week?

Just need to know, he doesn‘t and it is really hard to not have any answers. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. :)

Not gospel since it‘s been a long time since I finished basic trade training and things change but I suspect you may be up late looking for an answer...

I would expect the actual posting "message" about 2-3 weeks prior to the end of his BIQ, maybe even a bit closer to his end date. The reason for this is the posting message is your formal authority to actually make financial comittments (ie. sell a house) in preparation for a move so the CF holds off for as long as possible to minimize the risk in case something goes wrong.

Until a message is in hand everything can change so take any verbal info with a grain of salt. (ie. not so long ago a course from the RCR Battle School were re-badged to PPCLI and sent west)

If anyone has recent experience don‘t be shy about correcting me.

Never believe you‘re posted until you‘re on the plane and all your furniture is packed and moving across the country. Even then, people have had postings changed after arriving at their destination. Wait for that posting message!!

The web site says BMO for 031 takes 16 weeks. Is that what you meantm by BIQ?

The latest Training Plan for Basic Infantry that I can find (dated Oct 02) gives the duration for the Regular Force course as 40 training days plus 3 days administrative time = 43 days. Allowing for statutory holidays, he (and you) are probably looking at 9 weeks from "Welcome" to "Congratulations."

The career managers usually issue the posting messages in the last few weeks of the course, once they are sure of the numbers graduating and the plan oin where the soldiers are needed has been confirmed by the regiment.

The most recent trend is that, although soldiers may be given the opportunity to state where they‘d ‘like‘ to go, most soldiers in each graduating platoon will be posted to where the greatest need exists. Expect to go to the next unit in line for an operational tour that is having its ranks filled for that purpose, or to the one expected to have the greatest attrition in the near term (2 PPCLI ?).

BIQ with everything put together is 10 weeks long.

As for Bn posting, the trend has been that whatever Bn your instructor comes from(not the WATC staff but the augmentee staff), is the Bn that you will be posted to. Now there are exceptions to every case and you‘ll find that one or two guys from every course will go somewhere different. If the course that your DH is going to be on the one I‘m thinking about it is a 3VP run course. However don‘t take that to the bank, things change all the time.

General disclaimer- This only works for Wainwright, I have no clue how they allocate out East.

RoyalHighlandFusilier,

Jan 19th to March 9th was his regular SQ. So, 36 training days altogether. There was one holiday (Feb.16) in there.

MJP,

If I go by the WATC schedule, it looks like he goes for Infantry training Apr 5-June 16 in Shilo (that is the next one). Also, all of army people from basic training were sent to Wainright after grad and then sent to Shilo to do SQ. They held back my Dh and his fire partner in Wainright who both recieved awards in basic. Dh got best recruit and the other guy got best athlete. It makes you wonder if that had anything to do with it. I hope we do get 3vp. That is what I am hoping for. I Pray you‘re right.

Thank you all for your help, I greatly appreciate it.

Christa

If he does his BIQ in Shilo he will most likely be going to 2VP.

That‘s what scares me!!!! I hope that there is a course out of Wainright that is not on the schedule and starts in a week. I just cannot be posted there and he doesn‘t want to go there either. He wants to be a jumper so there is no place for him in 2VP. And if I want some kind of life, I can‘t move to Shilo.....

If we do get posted there, how do we go about getting a new one and does it take long? We were thinking that the kids and I would not move until we are posted where we want to stay.

It is probably not that easy though, is it?

Oh ya, does anyone have a problem with the large signature?
