Hi.

I applied and received a confirmation email last fall indicating that everything is in order. I contacted the recruiting center in January to touch base and see if anything was moving forward. At that time I was told that I had been up for one of the positions I had applied for but there was limited space and I didn't get it.

At this time I still haven't had my CFAT, Medical, or interview. I was just recently told by a recruiter that one of my choices RMS clerk is currently open. I am hoping to get in this April, but i'm a little concerned about why they wouldn't have had me in for these tests yet. From reading in other posts it seems like a lot of other people have these out of the way early and that these are needed to get merit listed. Does anyone know if it is normal to not have this stuff done for so long?

Maybe it has something to do with me living in the U.S. and not having a recruitment center close by. I am also told though that they will review my previous CFAT results from when I joined the first time around and assess if they meet the requirements for the careers that I have currently applied for.

I'm sure things have changed since 1999 but the first time I applied I waited a year and then they called me to Kamloops for my Medical. A month later I was called back down for my CFAT and interview. After the test they told me I did well enough that I could choose any of the careers I had listed. A month later I was in Vancouver swearing in on April 1st.

Any input would be greatly appreciated. I hate to keep bothering the people at the recruiting center if I can get answers elsewhere. Also, I apologize if this topic has been covered. I did a search but didn't see anything that fit or was up to date.

Thanks

Yes they have. For the first time in memory we have seen recruiting shut down for most trades for months at a time because the vacancies simply do not exist. There has not, however, been a reduction in the numbers of people applying. If anything, it's possible that the profile of the CF in the past decade has resulted in higher than average numbers of applicants. All you can do is be patient, and remain in contact with the CFRC. Consider how strong you think your application might be against others and, if you think you need to work on something, focus on that while you wait so that you can improve the competitiveness of your file.

If one or more of your trade selection(s) is/are open, call your file manager and ask if theres any way you can come in for the CFAT.
