Hi,
Signed up yesterday at the recruiting office in Hamilton Ontario. Just wondering who the lucky souls are, who are also going where I‘m going. The recruting told me I WILL be going around May for basic; interview in April. I‘m going PPCLI, didn‘t think I had the option. Not going to pretend I‘m not nervous as ****! But it will be fun. So who‘s with me? :cdn:

I hate to be the bearer of bad news my friend but get ready to sit around for a while. Theres a massive back log of recruits waiting to do courses including infantry. I‘m told one or two platoons worth plus (probably close to 100 guys) have been waiting almost a year to do their infantry course. They sit around in a holding platoon and do odd jobs here and there. i know that bit of news is stopping 5 or 6 of my friends from joining the reg force infantry.

Nah,
That‘s very true though. The whole ‘hurry up and wait‘ thing. But I did a military co-op course in high school and did the bmq for it. So I have a file open and all that admin stuff ready. He told me that I would have to wait a long, long time but in the mean time get in shape, then I pulled out my old file with release forms and stuff like that and he is like wow, your process will be sped right up, this shaves off like 6 months. So ya, I will be off in May...still nervous lol

-Well i‘m up for selection in April got Merit listed for infantry...my recruiting has taken almost a year...i should get in this time :) should be going in either 1st or 3rd PPCLI

My brother got into Reg Force Infantry without any problems, maybe just a bit of good luck for him, or he joined up at the right time.

Well if you‘re as lucky as you sound, I WISH YOU ALL THE BEST!!!!!!!!

My process is finally back on track, and I‘m going for my second interview on March 1st. I also need to do another PT test since it‘s been about 5 months since I completed my first one.

I‘m crossing my fingers for PPCLI 1st or 3rd.

As for a backlog for BIQ, personally I‘d rather get in now and wait later, than to wait now and get in later. It sounds pretty lame to just hang around doing odd jobs, but time in is still time in, and it‘s probably a good opportunity to get back in shape after basic training.

I wouldn‘t be surprised if all the guys going PPCLI end up in Shilo.  Suckers.

Ya, I really hope to get into 1 or 3 PPCLI, mainly for the scenary. If you are going infantry, and basically doing the same things...don‘t quote me on that, I know there is a difference in unit training...but just the scenary and mountains alone will be worth my stay there. I want to make a career out of this, 20+ years haha. *eye starts to twitch* Everyone wants to get into PPCLI..for what reasons do you guys have? :cool:

No offence to any RCR but they‘re a bit anal with their garrison stuff, ie ironing combats etc.

Hmm, odd, having to iron combats..PPCLI guys don‘t have to iron their combats? Does anyone know the real differences between RCR and PPCLI? If not all the differences...any will do. THANKS:)

I‘m just trying not to get into a pissing match with any Royals. And I base my experiences on this when working with them in the Reserves (hence why I choose PPCLI).
RCR= Very professional
Vandoo= Party party
PPCLI= Fairly relaxed in most matters.

Vandoos ..*shudders* Drunk-French-People-With-Rifles.. .......lol....I‘m gonna get slammed for this. No offence, of course;)

I do not find the Vandoo or French jokes very funny, as far as I am concerned it is a form of prejudice and there is no room for it. I speak English with no accent and have found myself listening to this **** for years, just be glad we are not in a bar and you guy's are not saying this **** in front of me.

Ok Chop, please accept my applogy. All in good fun, as I said, no offence. I‘m not even in the Army yet and I am cracking jokes. Yes, I am very glad I am not in a bar with you, because well if we were...actually you wouldn‘t know who I was because the internet and real life isn‘t real. Think I‘d actually say that stuff infront of a real Vandoos? No way. I wouldn‘t bad mouth anyone in uniform no matter what the stereotype. The internet is all jokes and not to be taken seriously. I‘m sorry that you were offended...

*Yawn* :salute:

haha...wow...I really cannot spell. Guess I‘d better learn english too like chop. I am also fluent in french, but somehow am making fun of french people!! What‘s wrong with the world!

Just finished my Process after 8 months of waiting for my bloody VFS, Anyways i am going 031 and the Captain at the Recruitment office said their is a back log, but thats because Not nuch is open right now because its at the end of their fiscal year. I should expect to be going back to basic around April/May.

Wow, thats crazy wait time man. I went there friday...first time going, and I‘ll be going in for sure for my interview in April and May for basic. That‘s only because I already have a file open with them and all the admin bs* done and filled out already. So I am just waiting for my interview....Good old high school military co-op! Sped this process right up! Anyways, hope to see ya there. :warstory:

"I do not find the Vandoo or French jokes very funny"

oh relax, im sure you‘ve never told an english joke or you and your buddies haven‘t sat around bashing the rcr or ppcli. RCR vs PPCLI, VS vandoos, VS NSE who hate the NCE who make fun of everyone else. reg force against the reserves who bash the cadets who bash civilians.
Thats all anyone does.

On a side note from as much as i‘ve heard, the vandoos and reknown for taking care of their guys. "They are like a different army but they really look out for one another"

No matter where you go it‘s going to be a wait and sitting in a platoon picking up garbage all summer long or putting up modular tents really has a way of taking the shine away from the military life.
