Not really sure  of the point of this story, but I would have KILLED for a Double Double while gone from Canada.

In the laundry list of costs (found in the story) it should have ended with, Taste of Home: PRICELESS.

Cheers

What,s the point of the story.... telling the public what they have a right to know.
The story isn't critical.  It shows that there is a cost to being there but points out that the troops pay a reasonnable price & they appreceate the convenience it affords.

I saw that on global, it was the first story of the news show......

Slow news day i guess.....

Actually, I got a differnet feeling from the story, more of a look at the high cost........

media trying to stir controversy where there isn't any........i got that general impression from the report as well.  Like i said, slow news day

Considering the extraordinary cost to the taxpayer and the free publicity Tim's got, seems a bloody shame to me to charge the soldier a buck and a half for a coffee.

These companies that put a fast food outlet or coffeee shop in theater are good for morale and it makes sense financially. They have a captive customer base, little competition and build tons of goodwill that will mean future sales. Keeping the troops happy during a stressful deployment - priceless.

Off topic, but what's the hat the Cpl is wearing in the picture?

It isn't Cdn issue.  Looks like old US desert pattern or something from the sporting goods shop

If you look closely it appears to be Tim Horton's issues.......you can just make out a Tim Horton's in black letter if you enlarge the picture..

It is indeed!! Good tour souvenier. I need to get me one of those to hang up on the cottage rafters with the other ballcaps!!

I have one. ;D Here's a picture of it. From what I hear they are quite the hot commodity over there. I got it as a gift this week.

Be neat if all Tim Hortons employees working November 11th across Canada were wearing one....

Nice. Someone should give the manufacturer a ton of end-roll Arid CADPAT to work with though.  ;D
