If you do not know the Regiment # is there a surname database online to search for the Regiment enlisted in,  in order to get the  WW 2 personnel records of a famly member?  We haven't heard from him in over 60 years and have no idea where he died or when.  Do know that he was overseas in WW 2 and heard he married an English girl in Guildford, Surrey, England.  Any help finding the regiment of MICHAEL SAWCHUK born in Pleasant Home, Manitoba appreciated.

Niiece, Muryl

The National Archives of Canada hold the personnel files of all members of the wartime Canadian armed services. When you write that organization, which is usually very cooperative, you should include as much information as you know, including full name, date and place of birth if possible.

Your MP's office in your riding may also be able to help. We often forget that there is more to their job than just making fools out of themselves in Parliament.
