Has anyone here became an infantry soldier in the reserves at the age of 16? If so what was your experience in it? Thanks

I did.

Its hard to believe that this much time has flown by, but I joined the Army Reserve when I was 16yrs old, as an Infantry soldier.

I was young, and the idea of "doing battle against the evils of the world" was still very romantic to me.  I ended up HATING it, and when I was 18 I went reg force for a few years, then ended up back in the reserve world years later.

Joining when I was 16yrs old was good for me - by far one of the best character building moves I've made in my life.  I lost my earring real quick, realized in short order what short hair really was, and learned a lot about being a good example for others.

I remember people taking me aside and showing me how to do things properly, rather than some other people who would just yell.

I remember sitting down in the office of my Sgt for the first time, and one of the things he said was "Every conversation we have stays private between you and me, whether we specify that or not."  That one thing right there is something I've taken with me ever since I left his office, and still very much live by it today in the way I treat other people.

I also realized how productive a human being can be, and how much can get accomplished in a single day.  Sadly, this is a mindset that I have lost - very much to my own detriment.  Especially now that I am of an age where I have much more to get done than when I was 16yrs old!

Waking up at 5am.  Getting my PT out of the way, and spending the rest of the day working - I remember leaving QL2 (Now called BMQ or whatever) - realizing just how much more could get done in a day than I ever realized.

If your thinking about it, do it.  Very worst case scenario, as a reservist, you can always just return your kit & release.      :2c:

I joined the Reserves, not the Infantry, at the age of 16. No regrets.

One lesson I learned in life, it can always get worse.  :)

A couple of points the OP may find of interest,

Liability in case of reserve force

(2) The reserve force, all units and other elements thereof and all officers and non-commissioned members thereof

(a) may be ordered to train for such periods as are prescribed in regulations made by the Governor in Council; and

(b) may be called out on service to perform any lawful duty other than training at such times and in such manner as by regulations or otherwise are prescribed by the Governor in Council.

Persons under eighteen

34 A person who is under the age of eighteen years may not be deployed by the Canadian Forces to a theatre of hostilities.
