regular infantry exercises

On topic…

Sleeping in the field can be anything from a cot in a heated tent to a bivvy bag in a moddy hole in the ground. Or the snow. The duration can be anything from one night to weeks and weeks. It can sometimes be boring, with not not much going on, or the most extreme multi-day athletic event that can possibly imagine.

That is what makes the Army so fun. Variety.

There is no simple answer. Sometimes you will go weeks living in austere conditions without access to your devices. Sometimes you’ll be on exercise for a month, but living out of semi-permanent tents or permanent crude buildings with power hookups and the ability to have some creature comforts like a laptop or a tablet. You‘ll know in advance.

Sometimes, regardless of the physically circumstances of where you’re sleeping, you’ll be ordered to not have any electronics at all as a security measure. You’ll know this in advance too.

A reality of the infantry is that at times you’ll be mostly or completely cut off from the outside world for maybe up to a couple weeks at a time. This can happen both on exercise and on operations. Sometimes it won’t be with a whole lot of notice, say if you’re sent as the security element for a humanitarian mission to a country that just got wrecked by an earthquake or tsunami, or say you’re in an Afghanistan-like mission in a newly established outpost.

If you aren’t prepared to go without device access for a few weeks at a time, consider if this is a career choice you want to make.

You've been given a myriad of answers and all are accurate. A lot of it depends on the training cycle - for instance if its winter you're going to spend some time in a 10 man tent.....and maybe in a snow bank. As for devices they should be your very last thing you need to worry about. In the infantry your weapon and kit come first before any down time.
