But when are using the same rhetoric from the late 1930s, down to propaganda posters, and slogans that allowed the Nazis to implement things like the Holocaust, we shouldn't mention that because they haven't actually genocided anyone yet?People think that by comparing contemporary figures to Nazis, or contemporary events to the Holocaust, they're accentuating the badness of contemporary figures. What they achieve is to desensitize people to what Nazis really were, and what the Holocaust really was.
The same crowd has already put little kids in dog kennel prisons and deported them to countries without their parents, and was building a concentration camp in a swamp until it got shut down, so it's not like there aren't obvious parallels. ICE chasing down brown people demanding papers, and arresting actual American citizens anyway because they 'look illegal' is current events.
