British Military Current Events

They seem to be targeting private business clubs. Canada has hundreds of similar clubs. In the UK, White's is a famous example: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/White's . A small handful retain a 'men only' membership policy.

Interestingly, there are also a few 'women only' clubs too.

But they're private organizations and can make their own rules. Many have changed their 'men only' policies over time for largely financial/business/social reasons but some hang onto the past, as per SOP.

As I recall, only a small fraction of military members are also members of these clubs as they're usually pretty expensive.

It's clearly a Labour Government driven effort to further an activist 'anti-social elite' agenda - starting with the Forces because they do what they're told. Canadians will be familiar with this approach, of course.

My guess is they've just done the clubs a huge favour and membership will likely now skyrocket ;)

So are we talking about the places with wood-panelled walls, green leather chairs, billiards tables and old boys puffing on stogies and sipping brandy while they read The Times? Doesn’t sound like fun to me..

These days, that would be the club members who are women ;)

British soldiers sent to hospital with hearing problems just weeks before Ajax tank declared safe

Soldiers were sent to hospital with hearing problems and headaches after testing new British Army tanks - just weeks before they were given the go-ahead.

The disaster-laden Ajax vehicles were finally declared ready for deployment on Wednesday, eight years later than planned.

But Army bosses suffered fresh humiliation today as it emerged they had to launch a safety probe after troops involved in tests over the summer suffered ‘noise and vibration’ injuries.

About ten soldiers raised concerns following a training exercise on Salisbury Plain. They reportedly suffered serious headaches, loss of balance, motion issues and tinnitus.

But an Army investigation into the reports found ‘no systemic issues’, and the launch of the vehicle went ahead.

The injuries came six years after such problems were initially linked to the tanks and supposedly solved.
