On Saturday, January 10, Finland officially withdrew from the Ottawa Convention prohibiting anti-personnel landmines. — Ukrinform.

That suggests a reconstruction of the Iron Curtain but further east. A continuous belt from the North Cape on the Arctic to Odessa on the Black Sea.

Note that these numbers are from Russian families getting in contact with Ukraine trying to find their loved ones, number may not be entirely accurate but it's still staggering +/- in either direction.

The third real story is that Trump, once again, is giving Putin time in Ukraine and dodging all the stories of the Russians committing war crimes while trying to freeze the Ukrainian population to death. It was only two weeks ago that the chorus of fools was once again saying Trump was losing patience with Putin, that was going to toughen up, was going to approve sanctions.

Now no one is talking about him being tough on Russia. Now the story is a crisis between the USA and Europe, that NATO might be over, that the US might even use military force against its one-time allies.

And the Russians keep attacking Ukrainian cities relentlessly, as they did last night. Using missiles and drones, the Russians savaged Kyiv last night, leaving 5,635 apartment buildings without heating. Almost 80 percent of these are buildings where the heating supply was only just restored on 9 January according to Kyiv’s mayor.

Yet everyone wants to talk about the senile old grandpa and his damaged ego. Trump is laughing at his enemies and to be honest he should. He is playing them for fools once again.
