Re-enlisting- BMQ question

Good day.

Quick question here. I was enlisted in 2008. I completed my BMQ

I had some family issues in 2011 and asked for a "stress leave" of a few months to take care of things. The officer in charge did not file any sort of paperwork and told me to just come back when I can.

Long story short I left in 2011 and was issued a NES for not being at parade nights etc.

I reapplied this week and am currently in the process

Question- Do I have to redo my BMQ?

Thank you in advance.

Generally speaking, quals have a five year validity period, meaning that in all likelihood, you will have to repeat BMQ. The final decision rests with recruiting.

I left the Reserves in '07 and was sworn in again last June. I start a part-time BMQ tonight.

I was a squeaky wheel and carried around my original BMQ/SQ/BIQ certificates, but it was no use.

Ah well, I could use the exercise.

Were you fully occupationally qualified at the time that you released? If you were I don't think you have to redo BMQ. As far as I'm aware, BMQ is good for life once you reach OFP.

I knew a guy that had a prior service of several years. He rejoined 20 years later at almost 50 years-old and didn't have to redo his basic. Just his trade qual.

You should not have to redo BMQ. Policy is that the qualification is good for life if a member reaches OFP.
