2026 US-Denmark Tensions/End of NATO

The Trump insistence on stealing Greenland and subjugating its citizens does not have to result in the end of NATO. It could just result in the US expulsion.

Can we stop with the cope?

The Supreme Allied Commander is always American.

It's the end of NATO as we know it if the US is expelled. They'd be better off creating some other structure that works better for them.

I had my first “stepped on a Lego” as a parent experience the other day. Based on that experience it should be counted as defence spending.

Top tip: build a 'Lego Corral' of some kind. Prohibit use of the Danske Devil's Blocks outside of this area.

Or you will be doomed, doomed I tell you ;)

Checks and balances apparently are just stronly worded statements.

Exactly. They won't actually do anything real to stop him.

David Cochrane on CBC last week:

“America isn’t the way it is because he’s president. He’s president because America is the way it is.”

There's really no coming back from this. Rest of the world slowly decouples away from the US. Unbelievable to me that this might be how China wins the 21st century.

Thank you MAGA.

Its like the Romans. A series of bad emperors and the system crumbles from within. The USA has had Trump, Biden, Trump.

WASHINGTON — President Donald Trump is privately ramping up his focus on another target in the Western Hemisphere, increasingly complaining to aides in recent weeks about Canada’s vulnerability to U.S. adversaries in the Arctic, according to two U.S. officials, a senior administration official and three former senior U.S. officials familiar with the discussions.

As Trump’s advisers work toward his goal of acquiring Greenland, the president has privately grown more exercised about what he sees as Canada’s similar inability to defend its borders against any encroachment from Russia or China, specifically arguing Canada needs to spend more on defense, the officials said. They said his push has accelerated internal discussions about a broader Arctic strategy and potentially reaching an agreement with Canada this year to fortify its northern border.
Yay...

Filled that out FY ;)

If you recall, the Democrats declared war on the 'deplorables' in 'flyover country' and lit a bit of a fuze ...

Well if Obama is a barometer for bad, we shouldn't neglect the strategic genius of Bush, mr start two wars in the middle east with no plan on how to win them and lead up to the worse financial crisis seen in generations, so

Bush, Bush, Obama, Obama, Trump, Biden, Trump.

And the Republicans/Maga have it at 4-3

Your referring to 12yrs out of 250yrs - We had 10yrs of Trudeau, which was a disastrous for this country in so many ways. That's 10yrs out of 159yrs. Which is statistically worse?

Statistics don't matter. Impact does. For better or worse, Trudeau didn't do serious irreversible damage on the global stage. Trump is basically upending the global order as we know it. Even domestically, whatever you disagree with from Trudeau can be undone in due course.
