Liberal Minority Government 2025 - ???

If "Is america a threat to Canada?" were a political party...
Just playing devil's advocate/conspiracy theorist here... (sorry guys, it just comes to me)

Do these kinds of polls exist as a means of the government to measure/monitor how effective it's propoganda machine is working?

And with a $300M increase in it's already large budget to $1.9 billion dollars (CBC budget) + $325M in media subsidies for everybody else (the corporate media that is now apparently also government funded?) - you can bet your own behind there absolutely IS a propoganda machine at play here

And with that kind of money being pumped into this space Annually - it becomes hard to see anything other than what they want you to see. You can compare CTV, CBC, Global, etc - but if they're all getting substantial income from the same source......you catch my drift?

A mature information campaign covers off the tertiary sources of information as a very early objective.

Why have one station squawking government provided information when you could have that AND the main information sources reporting slightly different but supporting pieces that provide credibility to what's being presented?

And throughout the information campaign they sponser a poll to be conducted among the population to measure how effective it is working?

(Sponsoring different polls from different polling companies with enough time between as to not be suspicious, ofcourse. A really really mature info campaign would have those covered off too...)

...

I'm just suggesting a possible, but highly unlikely theory is all...

Even though the dollar amounts stated above are verifiably true, and the source of those funds is the government for both branches.

The state cares more about what you think than you do. People just can't believe it, so it gets shrugged off as unbelievable & a crazy conspiracy...

🤷🏼‍♂️😉

Surely it must be the CBC propaganda machine and not the constant attempts at economic destruction, threats of annexation and support and funding for Western separatists.

Yes, this is the only thing that makes sense.

I like it even better when it's international polls showing the same thing.. Those Canadian propaganda dollars really getting their bang for their buck when it's hitting europe

Canada's exposure to risk from China is extraordinarily limited compared to the US: we're not culturally-similar neighbours with all the resultant fractally complex relationships and hazards. Does that mean we should be blind to both structural risks as far as trade (non)diversification or soft-through-medium power moves and games of silly buggers? Not at all. Wouldn't hurt to do a review of US influence activities, political support, and "branch office" arrangements with the same lens as would be used to review Chinese activities and counteract both as vigorously as possible.

As an example, if a Chinese police office on Canadian soil is objectionable, then anything equivalent in function, including partnerships we may have actively sought in the past, involving the US needs to end at the same time.

Given the current situation in the US, including both their vicious internal law enforcement approach and their threats to Canadian sovereignty, there's no baseline, on principle alone, reason for Canada to preserve the US, especially its government or military, from threats or harm. Anything, and I mean anything, that won't cause blowback for Canada just isn't our business.

Michelle Rempel Garner on "the speech" (also archived here) ....
... with this bit standing out for me as at least suggesting that PP will likely continue more down the opposing path than trying-to-help-where-he-can-support-it path:

As a reminder, this from PP as of May of last year:

More on "where next for Team Blue?" from the National Post.
For the record, Michelle's boss's take on the Davos speech.
Also archived here.

Next step: "I am announcing today that next week we will introduce a motion to pass the Canadian Sovereignty Act next week in the House of Commons."

He missed "India" from the list of countries interfering ;)

America is not our friend.
Honestly at this point I’m just rolling my eyes. Dude wants to keep spouting erratic nonsense, keep showing us and the world why we need to economically diversify around his batshit style of governance by toilet-tweet? Ok, go nuts. It’s especially dumb when he threatens us with things that would subject him to crippling domestic political consequences.
