A Deeply Fractured US

So, my youtube is frequently populated with police videos. One of the things I notice is that in nearly every encounter, the police approach calmly, and almost always start with non-lethal force. The ICE videos I've seen show none of that. From my perspective, ICE appears all in, all the time.

Remind me again why ICE personal would be sent overseas as part of a VIP protection detail? Are US Departments that short of qualified personal that they will have to take agents from a department that does not have that role?

It would seem their primary role overseas is screening passengers bound for the US and being part of Embassy staff to assist in immigration reviews and investigations.

Yes, because they quite publicly spent a lot of the first year firing anyone remotely competent.

I can't see anything going wrong here.

US to send ICE agents to Winter Olympics, prompting Italian anger

Homeland Security Investigations; not Enforcement and Removal Operations. Two separate agencies both under the ICE umbrella. HSI are pros and have attachés throughout the world including Canada.

Interestingly the two agents who appear to be involved in the shootings in Minnesota were also pros with years of experience and not part of the recent hire rabble.

I'm not going to the Olympics in Italy and frankly I don't care who the Americans send over to deal with their own people. Just don't come around any Canadians, we'll police our own. Lastly, its the Italians, the general population, that they've need to make happy. :D

Yup, but the guys we’re seeing on the news are ICE ERO and CBP. HSI do stuff like national security investigations, cybercrime, war crimes, sanctions etc. detective stuff versus hit the streets and crack heads stuff. Very different mentalities and different people attracted to the respective roles.

So, like, standard Internal Affairs stuff?
