I think we should look into restarting CRV-7 rocket production, maybe with a few improvements since the production line stopped.
I don't know if those guidance kits would work on them the same way they work on the current Hydra rockets, but they seem to be an extremely in demand munition right now.
(I'm thinking the CF-18 six pack would be much more effective if able to engage these Iranian suicide drones with plenty of cheap guided rockets rather than a few expensive AIM-9X missiles)
A ground launched version of the CRV-7 that could be fired like a MANPAD would be a huge success right now, if some company were to come out with one.
Cheaper than traditional missiles for MANPADS, but obviously less capable & less maneuverable, they might be a more cost effective solution to deal with low flying drones than current means of engaging them.

In the Ukraine scenario, how many one way Shaheed type drones just flying in a straight line to their targets could have been shot down by Ukrainian troops who instead just had to watch as it flew over?
In the Iranian scenario, how many more drones could be shot down if a warship could fire cheap guided rockets rather than depleting stocks of SM-2 & SM-3?
(In this scenario having some high powered DEW's would actually be best. High powered enough that the laser doesn't have to fire at a target for 10 seconds to down it, but closer to like 2 seconds would be ideal)

Well I’m sure that there was a plan, put together by some very very brilliant people…..and then we have this. Which group of people does it look like won the argument as to which plan to go with?
I don't think anybody that genuinely planned for a Iran war wouldn't have sufficient naval force in the region to keep the Strait open.

And that's the problem. Different goals. Israel really does not care if the Strait is closed. It's a smaller price to pay for a postage stamp sized country. Heck, Netanyahu will get re-elected for this. Meanwhile, Europe has another energy crisis and a resurgent Russia whose failing economy just got rescued. Asia is taking a hit nearly as large as the Asian economic crisis and watching the US run down ammo stocks while China keeps ramping.

The chances are not zero that Trump backs out and blames everybody else for failure. Ever so slight chance he escalates and starts making glass out some selective sites. But it’s fundamentally wrong for anybody have expectations that a war which could take years might be over in weeks or a couple of months.
To back off now would invite disasters of all sorts in the region and around the world. Him doing something preposterous might be the only way to wind it down. But here we are …

But if we somehow restarted the CRV-7 rocket production line, but put those precision kits on them to turn them into guided rockets...I'll bet you we could do it for far less than $27k per shot
Maybe that means making a similar kit ourselves & using those
(The CRV-7 was "better" than the Hydra-70 (apparently?) I just don't really know how or why?)
He's trying really hard to declare victory and slough off the policing to everybody else, notably the Europeans (whose energy security is vulnerable) and the Gulf States (whose economies are vulnerable).
The real question to me is what happens when the Gulf States just cut a deal and move on. Would Trump and co accept that?

Magellan can still make them.
Better propellant resulting in it being faster. The low smoke version for helicopters was slightly slower than the regular smoke version. A venturi with twisted strakes in the exhaust that imparted a high rate of spin. Both of these factors made it more accurate and the velocity was high enough that it could deploy anti-tank flechettes (that were somewhat effective...through top armour).

Saw a "Pro-Regime" protest in downtown Vancouver today. Maybe a 100 people and the majority were not Iranian, mostly the usual suspects with Free Palestine and even a communist flag.
