Iran Super Thread- Merged

Some of the conversations here. I find it hard to believe some folks were in uniform. I know not everyone had bars on their uniform. But thinking through enemy COAs and motivations isn't just taught to officers. Take a second and think through what motivates the IRGC and what you would do in their shoes.
First of all I would not attack UAE or Qatar or Turkey

18 days (not months or years) into this and that is the media.

The US and Israel achieved overwhelming destruction and victory over Iran's forces in single digit days.

A far cry from the first post on this thread:
I wouldn’t say victory. They achieved a lot of destruction but victory is determined at the conclusion not during.

Right now Iran is still fighting, has successfully shut down one of the most important shipping routes on the planet, is embarrassing the US on a international stage by causing its strategic aims in this war to fail and for them to go begging to their allies who they were actively knocking just days before.

Meanwhile those allies are turning away from them due to the rash and short sighted American actions which is directly effecting their economies.

America is looking weaker today than they have in a very very long time. China is likely overjoyed with this whole disaster.

‘Victory’ is a long way off by any means.

To come out and say Iran is no threat to the US is about as laughable as it gets. Iran since about 1979 has always been a threat to the US and every other western nation as well.
except he didn’t come and say that. His exact words were “imminent threat”.

The guy is a POS. Looking at his history, comments, links to groups like the proud boys etc etc, I say good riddance.

But he was a MAGA faithful. And was confirmed for his role under Trump.

Trump seems to be starting to crash out at the chickens coming home to roost on America’s belligerent self-isolation.

Trump fundamentally fails to understand what NATO is and isn’t, and I think he’s gonna make his ignorance on its scope, geography, and purpose everybody else’s problem.

Ouch.

And this happens 3 months before the World Cup is hosted partially in the US.

The Iranian regime just got spanked badly. It's about time. This was achieved with restraint and no ground forces. Good job US and Israel.

Above all, this will give Israel indefinite free will to bomb Iranian targets for months and years to come. Even when the US eventually leaves, Israel can keep picking away at the régime.

Iran and it's proxies has been seeding places with a Persian/Lebanese diaspora with agents, Hezbollah has a presence in Latin America and the goal is to cause havoc and facilitate the flow of drugs into the US. (Also to generate cash)

There are some 80 million+ Iranians that want the regime gone. After the massacres in January and now the bombings, the only way the regime can survive is to crack down even harder. However the more they crack down, the less economic activity there is. If this summer is dry, then there will be no water in Tehran. Without economic activity, the funds to pay the regime supporters begin to dry up. While a portion are diehard religious types that will fight to the end, many will simply fade away.

From now on the US and Israel can strike anywhere at any time. So the Regime can't concentrate it's forces. If the rebels can take a city, then the US/IDF can provide air cover and critical supplies.

Strange that your side was warning everyone that Obama and Harris would do exactky that and that it would be a bad thing.

How things change…

Cuba is next. And when they inevitably cause a refugee crisis into Florida and probably end up killing refugees on boats, he'll be yelling at Mexico to help. Or even possibly asking us.
I do wonder if we're next after Cuba. Maybe Greenland again despite backing off once.

It wasn't Bush, Obama, Clinton, or Biden.

I guess Putin could technically be a "former" President for that short stretch that Medvedev was in power purely to legislate Putin into being leader for life.

I'm beginning to think that the best thing that could happen is the US just tear off the band-aid and pull out of NATO. Force the Europeans to make the tough decisions and investments required to fully take control of European defence and at the same time the US can stop complaining if NATO nations don't tow the line on American unilateral policy decisions.

Maybe POTUS47 didn't quite understand there was no threat from IRN - after all, he DID cancel security last summer for these guys who got death threats, right?

Extremely interesting article. Take a minute to read this article.

U.S. counterterrorism director Joe Kent resigns over Iran war
U.S. counterterrorism director Joe Kent resigns over war: 'Iran posed no imminent threat'

Totally in keeping with Kash “Chug-a-Lug” Patel shit-canning the FBI’s counterterrorism unit because they worked on the Jan 6 file…

This guy that quit is no peach either.

Kent, a promoter of far-right conspiracy theories whom the Senate narrowly confirmed for the director role last July, accused the president of being deceived by Israel into supporting the war.

Only assuming that the countries they are flying over to reach Iran continue to allow them access.
It’s in complete violation of the sovereignty of those countries if Israel continues to do without their express permission.
Or, do you suggest that Israel violate international law in order to achieve this?

Ok, and then what? Which countries should the inevitable refugees go to? Iraq? Turkey (and then on to Europe), the Gulf States? Pakistan, maybe Azerbaijan or Armenia?
