Anyone hoping to see the end of the Snowbirds may be disappointed.
They need a stand in for the Blue Angels in the USA

This will be good, I am sure.Anyone hoping to see the end of the Snowbirds may be disappointed.
Maybe it means the RCAF is getting TF-50s?This will be good, I am sure.
Who knows?Maybe it means the RCAF is getting TF-50s?
The Snowbirds could have modern aircraft, and the RCAF could get back to training it's own fighter pilots.

Or maybe Boeing-Saab T7-A Redhawks? Do a deal with Saab to build them here instead of Gripens and get our full F-35 order?Maybe it means the RCAF is getting TF-50s?

By November 2023, the USAF was actively considering the possibility of turning the T-7 into an armed combat aircraft. Conceptually dubbed the F-7, such a jet could provide roughly the same capability as a fourth-generation fighter which could maintain force numbers as F-16s are retired. Boeing intends to offer an armed version of the T-7 to replace aging Northrop F-5 and Dassault/Dornier Alpha Jet fleets around the world.
T-50 uses the 404 as well?Or maybe Boeing-Saab T7-A Redhawks? Do a deal with Saab to build them here instead of Gripens and get our full F-35 order?
Same advanced jet trainer as the USAF. Boeing aims to sell over 2,700 Redhawks globally so should be enough orders to keep the line going. Uses the same GE F404 engine as our Hornets so less training delta for our techs.
They are also looking at an F-7 armed version which could be used to supplement the F-35's in a Hi-Lo missile/drone defence mix:
Yes. But the market for T-50's likely isn't as large as for the T-7A, so the opportunity to build a plant in Canada for Assembly in cooperation with Saab is better than the case for assembling T-50's with KAI.T-50 uses the 404 as well?
A single Demo F-18 is likely to generate more interest than the Antiques Road Show... Watching an F-18 perform is impressive, and far cooler than watching old trainers fly in formation.
KA 50 isnt just light strike, it can sling aim 120s as well.Beat me to it! Interestingly, KAI produces the T-50B variant of the TF-50 that is specifically designed for aerobatic performances.
They also produce the FA-50 light-strike variant of the TF-50. Just saying..
Korean Aerospace
I disagree, but it could be because I'm a military enthusiast but I get incredible pride watching the Snowbirds. The F-18 display is really cool but its an American jet and not even a new one.
The Snowbirds are 100% Canadian and the legacy that they bring is incredible. They remind us of a time when we believed in ourself as a country and we didn't let anything stop us from building the best aircraft in the world. I just wish we had a Canadian designed and built jet to replace them.
Good enough for the Sea Kings, right? It reminds me we havent replaced a jet we procured in thr 1960s, 60 years later.
Hopefully the RCAF will be making such recommendations.Whatever the MND announces on 19 May, I hope that it is not just a “buy 12 random aircraft so we can have display team”, but actually a larger strategy.
That is what worries me….Hopefully the RCAF will be making such recommendations.
If not, well, what follows is the result of their choices.
show up at HM for a couple of circuits and I know of at least one (no not me) local resident who will be on the phone to both TC and the majors office before the gear is in the wells after the first pass. You don't often hear from those of us who like aircraft but the other group never shuts upHad a couple of CF-18's doing familiarization flights in the area over the weekend. More folks talking about them doing that kind of random, focused training (helps doing touch and go's at airport) than folks that would travel for an airshow.
