Liberal (Minority/Majority) Government 2025 - ???

The greatest gift to Carney was the American election of Trump.

Carney has the relatively easy job of blaming every ill on America, and every success as a triumph in the face of American hostility against Canada or actions abroad.

I realized this morning though that the opposition is in a awkward position, we enter a technical recession, however, remember all those attacks saying the liberals (carney) was just stealing all of the CPC's policies. So by extension that would mean CPC policies would of lead to this as well. Awkward.....

Your bias knows no bounds. Impressive.

Nah, the opposition just says they would do it better, with all of the benefits and none of the drawbacks.

Except Pierre says they stole the ideas and only partially implemented them (refusing to go whole hog), this was in several interviews back in early winter or so.

Bias? Im just pointing out you cant have your cake and eat it too. If you are saying the PM stole your economic policies, and then attack the PM for us being in a technical recession because of those policies. You are essentially admitting your policies didnt work. Its a catch 22 for the CPC

Its deflecting responsibility away from the Gov in power. But you go ahead and make yourself feel better about that as required.

The government is the ones who implemented the policies yes, however claiming the sky is falling off 0.1% is ridiculous. the opening sentence of the Statcan report says this "Real gross domestic product (GDP) was unchanged in the first quarter of 2026". Why? Because the decline was -0.036%, which is statistically insignificant. The only way you even get the -0.1% that some of the press is reporting is by annualizing the data (which is just as insignificant, as an annualized number) In sum, better to stick to Statcan’s assessment of their own data.

Hey man enjoy yourself. As a big baseball fan I find comfort and safety in predictability and consistency.

This Is Fine GIF

The Cons are in the dumpster because they lack a bona-fide leader with any sort of credentials. Lacking any sort of credentials, they also have no one with any charisma.

Pollievre is a dweeb, he is also remarkably unaccomplished, even for a politician. His resume is genuinely uninspiring. Drams teacher Trudeau is honestly more interesting.

Careful. Just like you can't crap on the Gov crapping on PP will also get people stirred up.

This country is such wasted potential... A sad state of affairs.

unfortunately economies, like some players batting averages are very unpredictable

Yup. Less people for the same size of pie means, in theory, more pie for everyone.

Then you remember that gdp per capita is a horrible statistic that people only drag out when they think it makes the government look bad and doesnt actually reflect the wealth of the average canadian worth a damn.

I'm just a straight shooter who doesn't suffer fools. I've got a low opinion of our political class. That generally low opinion crosses party lines. There are people on this site who have more impressive resumes and accomplishments than 99.9% of the sitting MPs.

I wouldn't trust some people that sit in the HoC run a lemonade stand.

While I generally despise the LPC, Carney at least has a pedigree and built a pretty impressive list of accomplishments.

Some spaceport happenings tagged along with the submarine news today. The Hanwha offer also isn't dependent on being chosen for their subs.

And their Chief of Staff is in town.

When Poilievre or any other MP can go on national television, tearfully declare that when women say they're victims we should believe them, then later face allegations of sexual misconduct (sexual assault by todays standards) and still convince members of four out of five federal parties that he's learned his lesson and it's time to move on, then we can start comparing his (or anyones) political charisma to Trudeau's.
