Trump administration 2024-2028

I suspect a lot of buyer's remorse has set in but there is a non-zero set of voters who have consumed the Kool-Aid.

I suspect you may be right.

I read an an article published two days ago in Brookings that 62% of rank-and-file Republicans now identify as MAGA.

The article suggested that dominance has come at the cost of alienating a non-MAGA minority that increasingly thinks and votes like independents.

And that is an understatement, one struggles to understand the thinking within the power centers of the Dem Party that allowed things to play out as they did. It's like a self-sabotaging to break the Dem party from within?
Nope. Just the left-hand tail of their voter distribution wagging the dog. They're still doing it. The "covering letter" of the recently released "autopsy" and most of the resulting commentary are evidence. Parties in defeat almost always first go through a denial phase in which the problem is identified as "we didn't sell our message well enough" (or, less charitably, "the voters were too stupid to understand") rather than "our policies are not what most voters want"; that can last through a couple or three election cycles and it is still where Democrats are at. The left-most activist tranche of Democrats are in "not one step back" mode. They'll work to get rid of a moderate like Fetterman, and, as so far is seen, put up a candidate like Platner against a very moderate Republican (Collins) before compromising on where they want to take America.

U.S. looking at an off-market deal with OPEC to refill its SPR with Middle East oil. Its currently under 400MBBL and should be at 750-800MBBL

KSA kept its production artificially low in the past in agreement with the US, but it said it’s done doing that, and is increasing production. That comes at a time where the US sources of heavy sour oil to make diesel and kerosene have started to sell elsewhere (Canada and Mexico specifically) and with Venezuela production still nowhere near capacity, that leaves the Middle East to source the shortfall, at least in the short term to refill the SPR.

I don't know the pulse of the US population, but suspect the "ordinary American" wants neither society that the far left or the, currently empowered far right desires.

I have a hard time believing that your so-called "normies" are the Christian Nationalist, Trump-was-chosen-by God, party-like-it's 1776 racism, Orwell-is-a-guidebook crowd now in control.

Does thinking the positions listed below are correct make me a Christian Nationalist? I haven't been to church in probably a decade. And religious behavior and beliefs hold no practical application in my families life.

immigration control, abatement of crime and disorder, a halt to the reach of adult-appropriate sexualization down into the primary school grades.

Well, for my 2 cents some of those issues are pretty broad based.

Saying that the only immigration is to come from European countries and Australia/New Zealand might be considered on the far right side of things.

Whereas, I don’t necessarily have concerns with grade 7/8’s being taught sex education. Pushing it down to the grade 3/4 level I would have concerns with, depending on what is being discussed.

I learned sex ed in grade 3-4. That was back in... 1996?

Our gym coach taught us boys Mental Hygiene.

It covered all sorts of subjects designed to keep us on the straight and narrow.

It might be, but that's not the debate in the US. The debate in the US is about stopping people from entering the country illegally and removing those who somehow do get in.

Saw this in today's news.

Residents of French village say US defense chief Hegseth not welcome for D-Day visit

That's pretty shocking ( wish I could say surprising ) considering the kindness that has been shown to the families of the Canadians who died that summer in the Liberation of France.

Then they, the US Administration, needs to stop using the word ‘immigration.’

And again- until they, the US Government, starts to fine, imprison and/or seize assets/companies from the Americans who are the ones employing/exploiting these illegals, the issue will never go away.
Remove the jobs that illegals do, the illegals will remove themselves.

Really?
I guess I’m really old now. I’m pretty sure grade 8 was the first class in this and grade nine gym class started to open the door on it.

Ontario, not sure what year mid but I was born in 88, so around mid 90s, I think it was also like grade 4 or something. I have barely even a vague recollection, but I do vaguely remember some lessons and anatomical images. Kids aren't ignorant of their bodies, that people have sex (even if they don't know the details), and even back then we had some access to the internet and it's many wonders., never mind today Average onset of puberty is 9.36 years for girls, didn't find anything in quick googling for boys. You need to start early or half the kids are going to be going through puberty before you tell what it is.
