Trump administration 2024-2028

I suspect a lot of buyer's remorse has set in but there is a non-zero set of voters who have consumed the Kool-Aid.

I suspect you may be right.

I read an an article published two days ago in Brookings that 62% of rank-and-file Republicans now identify as MAGA.

The article suggested that dominance has come at the cost of alienating a non-MAGA minority that increasingly thinks and votes like independents.

That and the Democrats ran a poor campaign.
And that is an understatement, one struggles to understand the thinking within the power centers of the Dem Party that allowed things to play out as they did. It's like a self-sabotaging to break the Dem party from within?

Nope. Just the left-hand tail of their voter distribution wagging the dog. They're still doing it. The "covering letter" of the recently released "autopsy" and most of the resulting commentary are evidence. Parties in defeat almost always first go through a denial phase in which the problem is identified as "we didn't sell our message well enough" (or, less charitably, "the voters were too stupid to understand") rather than "our policies are not what most voters want"; that can last through a couple or three election cycles and it is still where Democrats are at. The left-most activist tranche of Democrats are in "not one step back" mode. They'll work to get rid of a moderate like Fetterman, and, as so far is seen, put up a candidate like Platner against a very moderate Republican (Collins) before compromising on where they want to take America.

U.S. looking at an off-market deal with OPEC to refill its SPR with Middle East oil. Its currently under 400MBBL and should be at 750-800MBBL

KSA kept its production artificially low in the past in agreement with the US, but it said it’s done doing that, and is increasing production. That comes at a time where the US sources of heavy sour oil to make diesel and kerosene have started to sell elsewhere (Canada and Mexico specifically) and with Venezuela production still nowhere near capacity, that leaves the Middle East to source the shortfall, at least in the short term to refill the SPR.
