Muslim Call to Prayer in Regina (split from Liberal Gov't 2025 - ???)

It's a call to come worship, no different from church bells.
Words have very specific meanings. It isn't really disputable, which I suppose is why no-one is (so far) bothering to try to explain that it's not dogma. "Well, they're kind of the same." Sure, they're both on the total spectrum of religious expression, somewhere between beatific smile and compulsory obedience.

oh really? Here it is translated to English
God is Great! God is Great! God is Great! God is Great!
I bear witness that there is no god except the One God.
I bear witness that there is no god except the One God.
I bear witness that Muhammad is the messenger of God.
I bear witness that Muhammad is the messenger of God.
Hurry to the prayer. Hurry to the prayer.
Hurry to salvation. Hurry to salvation.
God is Great! God is Great!
There is no god except the One God.

That is a mini sermon. I don't recall hearing any words calling me to the Anglican church down the road: just an E toned chime. There is a large difference. Just remember the camel.

Ya I don't buy the church bells equation.

To me its more along the lines of the Apostles and Nicene creeds.

But I am ok silencing church bells if it means I don't have to listen to the Muslim call to prayer too. There are lots places one can live in that environment Canada doesn't, in any way, need to be one of them.

Meanwhile, the 'Colonizer's Jingle' ;)

God save our gracious King,
Long live our noble King,
God save the King!
Send him victorious,
Happy and glorious,
Long to reign over us,
God save the King!

O Lord our God arise,
Scatter our enemies,
And make them fall!
Confound their politics,
Frustrate their knavish tricks,
On Thee our hopes we fix,
God save us all!

Not in this land alone,
But be God’s mercies known,
From shore to shore!
Lord make the nations see,
That men should brothers be,
And form one family,
The wide world o’er.

From every latent foe,
From the assassins blow,
God save the King!
O’er his thine arm extend,
For Britain’s sake defend,
Our father, prince, and friend,
God save the King!

Thy choicest gifts in store,
On him be pleased to pour,
Long may he reign!
May he defend our laws,
And ever give us cause,
To sing with heart and voice,
God save the King!

I would happily get rid of the monarchy to keep the call to prayer out of Canada.

I would happily get rid of the monarchy for a lot less.

oh no a public display of religious belief!

what this boils down to is some people think that another group of people don't deserve equal protection under the law.

For anyone who cares to pay attention look at Michigan and other cities taken over by Muslims - the fanatical violent kind.
By refusing to see it you are complicit
For this I was called a "troll". Bear in mind this quote:

First they came for the Communists
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a Communist

Then they came for the Socialists
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a Socialist

Then they came for the trade unionists
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a trade unionist

Then they came for the Jews
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a Jew

Then they came for me
And there was no one left
To speak out for me

Well I am speaking out. And if that makes me some kind of weird term then fine.

Some may see it as political.

As long as amplified sound , whatever the source , doesn't break the municipal noise bylaw , it's none of my business.

Much ado about nothing. Provided it isn’t violating noise bylaws it isn’t any skin off my back.

The government shouldn’t be expressly promoting it (or any religion) but it also isn’t it’s place to deny it.

Freedom of religion, and freedom of thought, opinion and expression are very important to me.

Do I like it? No. Do I like a lot of noise people make in public? Also no. But just because I don’t like something doesn’t mean I have the right to interfere with others unless they are actively interfering with me.

Well, of all the folks I know who worry about Muslim over-reach in the West, I haven't heard a lot of objections to some of the things Muslims are doing in Canada ;)
As for Michigan, same same: folks I know who object to some expressions of LGBTQ don't seem to be objecting as hard against some elements of Muslim illiberalism:
As far I as I can Google/Bing/Yahoo search, the MI municipality flag ban still stands as of this post.

The left needs to be saved from itself. Or freedom of religion ?

It isn't equal protection; it's a special accommodation. There is no obvious reason Muslims shouldn't experience the same amount of push back on their public expression as Christians.

This is like the person in a relationship who wants to see other people, and thinks "and you would be able to do it too" is a selling point, offering their partner something that is not wanted and has no value.

Irrespective of all that, yours is a stellar example of how liberalism can be exploited to corrode liberalism. Hence the contradiction, that liberal principles are sometimes going to have to be placed temporarily in abeyance so that lines to protect liberalism can be drawn.

Who really believes that the pressure for accommodations ends with one time on one day of the week? Later: "We'd like to expand to once on Monday as well." Later: "We'd like to expand to morning, noon, and evening on weekdays". Etc. Either you concede at each step or you draw a line. To do the former is to admit there is no line; to do the latter is to admit it was OK to draw a line at the first request. I propose that a line could eventually be drawn, so it's OK to draw it right now.
