Liberal (Minority/Majority) Government 2025 - ???

Its been pointed out that Ab for example has less hospital beds now than it did in 1990. Its no wonder how HC system can handle the current population then when out average per capita bed ratio is 2.5, germany for example its over 7

This was about 3 years ago indirectly related to my cancer . I ended up so badly dehydrated and malnourished that I ended up putting myself in the hospital. Pretty stupid in retrospect.
Spent 6 less then delightful weeks recovering in Concordia Hospital.

From what I recall , even though in another part of Canada , Colonel Ted , and other friends, through his moral strength and kindness, provided support.

Thank you for sharing that.

Yes I owe that man a great deal it was a pretty dark period in my life. A fair number of others here were quite helpful in getting me through those days.
Army.ca and Facebook were my window into the world .
The ward was restricted because of the number of Covid cases as well other respiratory illness. And just about all my friends and family seem to be susceptible to them . So no visitors

Another round from sources about what might be announced tomorrow.

If true I look forward to seeing all the different design proposals. Adding the residence of a head of state to a portfolio should draw a lot of interest.

Carney to announce fundraising campaign, design competition to restore 24 Sussex: source

Design competition? PLease!

Fundraising? Hell no. Reeks of selling access to the highest bidder. There are costs associated with being a nation; support to government is one of them.

One would think, but the opposition would have a field day.

Pierre Poilievre was asked directly about 24 Sussex and he said he is more focused and concerned with the cost of living, economy, job creation, a deal with the USA, critical minerals, etc.

24 Sussex needs to be fixed up, period. The Prime Minister is not a nobody, the second highest ranking person in our nation and the world spokes person for Canada. 24 Sussex is also a work place by default, the PM is the PM 24/7, 365 days a year.

We should never have let it fall into a state of disrepair and it is high time it gets fixed up. However, lets not see a boondoggle on repair contacts either.

A proposed design approved by a government committee. What could possibly go wrong?

No design competition would mean the finest of bureaucratic beige would prevail. We'd get the equivalent of 101 Colonel By.

Nothing, other than they look like they were designed by a committee. There is an saying that the camel was a horse designed by a committee.
Kind of a smart design.
Lion approaches Okapi
"Hey man, you have stripes, are you a zebra?"
"No sorry lion, I am not a zebra, just stripes on the back end"
"Well, are you an antelope?"
"Why no, I don't have horns"
"Can I eat you?"
"Nope, sorry, I am not a kudu, zebra, antelope, wildebeest, better luck next time"
"Ok, whatever you are, have a good day"
Lion walks away disappointed

That's the easy way out of answering a tough question.

Every - single - nation - has an official residence for their country's leader. For us not to being willing to maintain, rebuild, improve one is laughable and speaks volumes as to how fricking cheap and miserly we are as a people. We can't have nice things because we don't deserve them.

Built by the builder that put in the cheapest quote using shitty materials that would have the cement crumbling after 3 winters, the roof leaking in 2yrs, the drywall screws popping after 1yrs and the foundation cracked, sinking and leaking after the first winter/spring freeze-thaw period.
