If it is just an idea, nothing can happen until the fall anyways.Thanks. I’ll reserve judgment til I can actually read the source material.

NOT concrete evidence by a long shot. This is where I first heard the rumour. I will keep snooping until I find someone from the LPC actually saying it.Thanks. I’ll reserve judgment til I can actually read the source material.

Back to the Euro-vision horseshit. I just found out the federal government spent $150 million so we could enter this euro-vision music thing. What a piss poor decision and very poor optics if it is true.
Nowadays it seems like headlines are often designed to generate outrage but often when you look more deeply into a story you'll find there is more to it than just the rage-bait.Back to the Euro-vision horseshit. I just found out the federal government spent $150 million so we could enter this euro-vision music thing. What a piss poor decision and very poor optics if it is true.
And yes, as a member of the EBU Canada can now also choose to take part in the Euro-Vision contest if we choose. The EBU is an alliance of public service media, with 115 member organizations across 57 countries, in addition to 28 associates.
CBC’s promotion to EBU full member means the public broadcaster can now access “networks for investigative journalism, verification, digital news and data, as well as the Eurovision News Exchange and Euroradio Music Exchange services,” a news release from CBC and the EBU says.
The exchange also allows members to share live and edited news coverage.
Considering I want the CBC fully defunded and all other media subsidies, damn right. We need to get our priorities straight, this ain't one of them. At all.We paid $150 million for the CBC to become a full member of the European Broadcasting Union (EBU).
But not a $150 million thing. Pick your battles. There is a Canadian culture and no, the CBC doesn't define it. I am a non-American and proud of it but I sure as fuck ain't European either. This is a likely part of a concerted effort to reorient not just financially but culturally away from the US. That strikes me as a good thing.
Maybe if you are a starving Canadian artist you see this as the Gov't listening to your needs. We don't often give creative minds enough credit for their contributions to society overall. No hungry person ever woke up and said "Man, if we only we part of the European Broadcasting Union, would that help us out" or a homeless person saying "Its ok I can't even think of buying or renting a home, at least we are part of the European Broadcasting Union"
Some would say that artists don’t put food on the table.Maybe if you are a starving Canadian artist you see this as the Gov't listening to your needs. We don't often give creative minds enough credit for their contributions to society overall.
Was it really ever gone?![]()
Carney to appoint senior Liberal strategist to the Senate

Hey, the senate filled with partisan hacks is back.
They were ‘non-partisan’ in name only. At least now they aren’t pretending anymore.![]()

Hey, the senate filled with partisan hacks is back.
Was it really ever gone?

Non partisan selection process is apparently dead, back to open patronage. Here’s a fun update: PM Carney will also appoint current sitting Conservative MP Richard Martel to the Senate. Martel has been the CPC MP for Chicoutimi-Le Fjord since 2018.
That riding is uncommonly competitive; in the last election it was a three way near-tie with CPC at 34.14%, BQ at 31.19%, LPC at 31.12%.
Very real possibility this costs the CPC a seat even after the by-election, to the benefit of either the Bloc or the Liberals. A rather deft
political move- name a Quebec Conservative to the Senate, cost them a seat in the house at least short term, and maybe pick up a seat for LPC for showing that respect to the riding. And it also gives PM Carney a seat’s worth of breathing room come the fall sitting.
Well, my experience with sovereign wealth funds (limited to KSA) and governmental level investments (Canada, Korea, Taiwan, Japan, France) is that they aren't just giving us money. So, like, we couldn't have said 'thanks' and put it in the bank until later?
Well, my experience with sovereign wealth funds (limited to KSA) and governmental level investments (Canada, Korea, Taiwan, Japan, France) is that they aren't just giving us money.
Why would they.?
They are committed to investing up to that amount into projects, equity stakes etc. So if projects are not yet ready, there is nothing to invest in......
Also, six months is not a significant amount of time in the world of 9-10 figure investments. Raising private capital can often take a lot longer than that.
