Translation: shutting down some ops, shrinking others.
Short & sweet: shutting down in Kosovo, Cyprus (SNOWGOOSE), Sudan & Congo, cutting back in the Sinai. Total affected: ~50-60 people according to the info- machine.

Realistically Snow goose was shuttered in 1993, I was on the last Roto. Same with the others, the main ops has been closed a while ago and a few staff gigs that really did nothing left to ‘show the flag’.

Canada is better served pulling those to focus on National Security priorities.

I don't think the rest of the CAF gets how awesome our trips are...

People pay thousands to visit the places I get payed a few extra thousand to visit. London, Honolulu, Singapore, Tokyo, Istanbul, etc...

And it's very clean because 'swabbing the decks' ;)

Did they ever relax the drinking in port rules again or is it still two drinks a day max?

It's been relaxed.

RCN leadership philosophy neatly summed up.

It's also not true. Only 2 people don't do cleaning stations on ship. The XO and Cox'n. Equivalent a your AO and DCO combined and your RSM.

Even the old man (Captain) has to clean his own cabin now.

But if you want to generalize about differing leadership philosophies of the elements, I actually have lived experience in your world and the RCNs. And my worst experiences were all in the Army.

My one exception being FDU... The wanna be Army guys of the Navy.

Well it was largely tongue in cheek. Furniture is also suggesting we send our best to the Navy, which is silly thats what the air force is for.

I thought NTOG were the wannabes?

FDU are the OGs.

Arguably the future is in the RCN and RCAF, if all these announcements actually become deliverables...

And I mean, don't know how anyone who is smart can look at Latvia or an RCN world tour and still pick Latvia... ;)

Because you'd have to be RCN first. Sailing on a rust bucket held together by layers on paint in sea state 5 doesn't sound entertaining.
