Is it the job of the Fed to keep US deficits down? Now do the research on what a 25 basis point increase on the 30yr does to the amount of extra interest paid to service the US debt.

Could we bolster that by calling in US treasuries to stabilize the CAD? Im pretty past caring about negative consequences for the average American. Get out before we're left holding the bag sort of deal.Apple cart could easily be overturned by September/October when the Fed meets next.
For my two cents, they do nothing until the Nov mid-terms and then, regardless of Trump wins or loses Congress and/or the Senate, they raise rates 25 basis points and then another 25 in January.
It’s never ‘one and done’ with the Fed, it’s 2 or more.
CAD will fall accordingly if they raise interest rates and we don’t. Our ability to have CUSMA signed or not signed will have zero bearing on this. Higher rates translates into a greater flow of foreign capital to take advantage of this.
A lower CAD means higher imported goods - think imported fruit/veggies, autos, computers, clothes, everything that’s imported. To offset this, we’ll make more money on our exports to the US as well earn USD on those exports. Also means that the US may in fact import more from us since the CAD will most likely be around 68-70 cents.
If one of the AI hyperscalers goes tits up from their unprofitability - thatll be the catalyst imo. There are parallels between 2007 and now.
- valuation of the stock market
- rising bonds rates
- greater number of individuals unable to carry their debt loads
- lower labour participation rates.
The bomb dropped 1 yr later from the highs of 2007.

I thought they poured the gold first, then cut-off his head?Letter to the Editor.....

In response to this Economist article:
America must hope Donald Trump is not a new Caligula
Yeah the gold killed him. Cold death dealt by the Parthians who allegedly said his thirst for gold would be slaked.I thought they poured the gold first, then cut-off his head?
The correct order is everything in this case.I thought they poured the gold first, then cut-off his head?

That has to be a joke and is not correct. Look at the information displayed in the box on the lower left - data/information has been completely moved around.![]()

Nothing says "nothing to see here" more than a sex trafficker associated with Epstein being moved to less-onerous digs, though, right?
Clearly a shady customer...
'Vandals arrested' as Trump's $14m reflective pool project sees it turn green again
The president launched his refurbishment of the pool to mark America's 250th anniversary, as he said his predecessors had let it turn an algae-stained green.
One man arrested was David Hearn, 67, of Bethesda, Maryland, who owned a company that made composite used to build watercraft.
He said he stopped by the pool during his 64-mile bike ride on Friday to see what was going on.
Mr Hearn, a former Olympic canoe racer, told the Associated Press he reached into the pool because he wanted to examine the peeling new coating.
He said he briefly touched a chunk that was still attached to the side of the pool, then let go shortly after a park worker told him to.

But, Mr Hearn said, he was then detained by National Guard troops and Park Police for five hours before being released on Friday night.
"I'm a curious citizen," Mr Hearn said in a telephone interview. "I reached down to see what it felt like. It was very rubbery."
The Washington Post first reported Mr Hearn's arrest, and he said he has a date to appear in court next month and is looking for legal help.
DC US Attorney Jeanine Pirro is moving to dismiss charges against former Olympic canoeist David Hearn for allegedly vandalizing the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool, revealing in a Friday court filing that the Interior Department never shared information about its “flawed installation by the contractor” beforehand.
