A shocking update that no one saw coming.

Absolute gong show.

I'm waiting for the point where Judges start handing out contempt sentences to prosecutors for even bringing these charges into their courtrooms.
If I were a judge I'd demand that the US Attorney provide to the Court a 1200 word essay on what constitutes a viable criminal charge . As part of said punishment.
It might cut down on the number of people trying to massage the boss's ego.

Notwithstanding the theatre surrounding this issue, it is the duty of prosecutors to dispose of cases that are legally unsound, or have no prospect of conviction at trial. This case meets both criteria.
It was probably prosecutorial misconduct to bring it in the first place.

Except that's about Western Sahara, which is south of Morocco, and is already occupied by Morocco. Spain has not had any presence there since 1976 and does not assert any claim on the territory.

Ceuta is in the north on the Mediterranean, nowhere near Western Sahara.

The wording of the committee report sound like lip service to Morocco's claim over Ceuta and Melilla.

Why the push to have Spain deliver up these 2 cities to Morocco which were never Moroccan to begin with? Spain has held these cities for only about 50-60yrs less than what the Turks (Ottomans) have held Istanbul (Constantinople).

Following the logic that was used to 'create' Kosovo in the late 1990's out of the rump state of Serbia, if the people living there want to remain Spanish and part of Spain, then the same logic should apply. The vast majority of the people in Kosovo wanted to be independent, spoke a different first language and the majority practiced (for those that did) a different language and self-identified themselves as not being Serbian. Apply the same rules/logic to Ceuta and Melilla and see what you get.

Las Malvinas north.

Las Malvinas north.
Yup, and over 98% of the population of The Falklands has said that they want to remain British - and why Canada is the ONLY country in the Western Hemisphere to recognise the claim of the UK. By that same logic, we should be be default supporting Spain in this.
