No word on replacing the pub....
Building 355 units of military accommodations at CFB Esquimalt near the intersection of Colville and Admirals roads is expected to cost about $86 million, says the Department of National Defence.
Construction began at the former Upper Naden sports field last month, and the first of five two-storey buildings in the North Naden Accommodations is set to be finished early next year, with the rest to be completed by 2030.
Bird Design-Build Construction Inc. was awarded a $19.9-million contract in October 2024 for the first building.
The design-build contract will be amended over time to include the other four wood-construction modular buildings, department spokesperson Kened Sadiku said in a statement, noting the project will cost an estimated $86 million. There were previously plans to build a 400-unit temporary accommodations complex on the sports field, but DND announced it was building permanent accommodations shortly before crews broke ground on the project
