I've taken the train (corridor) more times than I have flown, and have more, worse disruptions when flying than taking the train. Even the handful of times I have taken the Ocean have been relatively uneventful (the meandering slow roll of that train is part of the charm for me).

I was about to say the same thing. I've never had any issues with train service to Toronto or Montreal.

I used to take the Ocean 20+ years ago to travel to Ontario for school, even scored a date once! We were stranded outside Rimouski due to a gigantic blizzard. The nice lady and I got chatting while stranded!

Flying is a gigantic PITA and it's often less convenient than driving for any drive under 12 hours.

Would love to take the kid on the train...but VIA is so unreliable you have no idea what time it will show up at the station...or arrive. Hopefully the date is correct. Because every VIA train takes second seat to freight it's constantly delayed.

It's now the worst of all worlds - unreliable, chaotic and very expensive. When you look forward to Air Canada shudder flights it's not a good scene.
