Some of the bought & paid for media

While I still enjoy the Line, Curse of Politics and the Palkin Podcast, Nuanced is quickly taking over first place.

Why Canadians stopped trusting the Media.

What the actual fuck?
"CBC reverses restriction on labelling 9/11 as ‘terrorism’ " (Toronto Star)
"How and why CBC News will adjust its 9/11 language guidance" (CBC.ca blog)

CBC walkback blog post archived here, too.

Two posts two years apart...

I suppose minds can change... But I think it's something else.

Never much cared for either Coyne or Chantal Hebert. I find them both a bit wishy washy and their opinions are prone to the direction of the wind. I have agreed on a very few of their positions, but just a few and likely with caveats.

This got some good coverage in The Line today. Matt and Jen’s insider view from having been MSM was useful. They were not kind to this decision, but they also helpfully contextualized how this stupidity happens within media businesses.

This interview with Andrew Coyne is worth the watch. Chief Aaron Pete is very non-partisan and is not afraid to prent tough questions to ALL sides of the political spectrum. Chief Pete is one of my favourite podcasters to watch.

Andrew Coyne is interesting as a journalist. Certainly not a Pierre defender but not afraid to sharply criticize the Liberals.

Worth the watch.

A timely piece by Andrew Coyne.

I was just thinking of “only Nixon can go to China” yesterday and how people would elect a party to do something that they aren’t predisposed to do because the voters don’t want the government to be overly enthusiastic in doing that thing.

Although I can’t think any examples of Conservatives starting any new social programs because the public didn’t trust the Liberals or NDP to go full stupid with it…

Its an interesting piece. I think Coyne deliberately ignores how public opinion is shaped. He is ignoring the effects of mainstream media reaction to the CPC doing things vs the LPC doing the same things. Though he does mention this:

"The great advantage the Chrétien Liberals had in government was that they didn’t have to face the Liberals in opposition. The Mulroney Conservatives had laboured mightily to rein in the deficit, in the face of a non-stop, 24-hours-a-day Liberal hysteria campaign, in which the most trivial reduction in spending was depicted as being motivated by unspeakable cruelty."

Coyne whitewashes how public opinion shaping by the MSM in favor of the LPC is entrenched in Canadian society.

Had the CPC declared Pacific Link a national interest project, we'd be peppered with articles in the CBC and CTV how they are steam rolling over provincial jurisdictions, first nations, and the environment. It would be a never-ending stream of soundbites how bad the CPC is for doing this. Now it is portrayed as an effort to demonstrate the country works.

Between the Laurentian Elites and the Canadian MSM, the LPC hold a massive electoral advantage in this country. And in the background of all of this are the CCP tentacles that reach deep into Canada through elite capture and narrative control. The Conservatives have a steep uphill battle against all of this.
