Quite odd... I assume it has, like the university, bad taste

Columbia University has been slammed for serving an ‘October 7th Blush Sauce’ in its dining hall on the third anniversary of the Hamas terror attacks on Israel.

The Ivy League school updated its dining hall menu Wednesday with four distinct pasta sauces: Marinara, Turkey Bolognese, Garlic Oil and its controversial ‘October 7th Blush Sauce,' according to a post on X.

It appeared under the cafeteria’s ‘pasta station’ as ‘today’s special,’ exactly three years after Hamas led an attack that became the deadliest day in Israel’s history.

AI response to "How many hardcore settlers are there"

Israeli intelligence, defense, and human rights organizations estimate that there is a core group of several hundred to a few thousand highly radicalized, ideologically driven extremists within the broader Israeli settler population. [1]
Because "hardcore radical" is an ideological term rather than an official census category, there is no single exact figure. However, data from official and monitoring bodies break the numbers down as follows:

Key Demographic Breakdown
    • The Core Violent Extremists ("Hilltop Youth"): Israel’s internal security agency, Shin Bet, and tracking groups estimate the core group of radical, decentralized youth—often referred to as the "Hilltop Youth"—at roughly 800 individuals. This group is primarily responsible for establishing illegal outposts and carrying out "price tag" attacks or direct violence against Palestinians and Israeli security forces. [1, 2]
        • Active Criminal Suspects: Historical and ongoing defense tracking by Israel indicates that during periods of high friction, Israeli law enforcement opens criminal files against several hundred right-wing radicals (for example, a single-year military commander report identified a hard core of a few hundred activists driving the vast majority of local violence). [1]
        • The Wider Ideological Sub-Movement: Experts estimate that several thousand settlers belong to the hardline national-religious or Kahanist factions who actively support or live in the ~196 unauthorized "illegal outposts" scattered across the West Bank. [1, 2]

    • Context Within the Total Settler Population
To put these figures into perspective, the hardcore radical element represents a very small percentage of the total settler population:

[th]Category[/th][th]Estimated Population[/th][th]Description[/th] Total Settler Population~800,000Includes over 529,000 in the West Bank and 246,000 in East Jerusalem. In recent years, heads of Israel's internal security services have openly warned that this small but aggressive faction poses a strategic threat to the region's stability. [1]

It would be interesting to see how those groups map with these ancestral groups known to my father's 6 Abn Div mates.

Haganah
Palmach
Irgun (Zvai Leumi) aka Etzel
Stern Gang (Lehi)

These settler groups are undeclared terrorist organizations.

Israel should be sanctioned/blockaded until they get them under control. Right now they are a state sponsor of terrorism. If they don’t want the apartheid treatment then they need to stop apartheid.

In this binary world I will side with the Israelis over Iran every day of the week and three times on Sunday.

I won't give CRINK an inch. Anywhere.

Thats the kind of binary thinking that led the world into the Great War. Recognize evil where it lives. These settlers are occupying an internationally recognized territory and threaten to further destabilize an already unstable region. Youre obsessive with C-UAS and SHORAD - you think Israel can handle another axis of incoming drones and rockets if the West Bank explodes into violence?

What part of this is binary? Israel certainly isn’t working towards our interests, they work towards theirs even to the detriment of their ‘allies’ (like pushing the Iranian war even as it greatly harms the global economy).

Not siding with people actively supporting terrorism and genocide isn’t a particularly hardline stance to take. It doesn’t mean you’re siding with Iran by demanding Israel stop.

I have no issues with supporting Israel’s right to exist, I have issues giving them a blank cheque to do whatever they want to whoever they want. If their actions result in sanctions until they behave so be it, it is a direct result of their choices.

You will be exhausted by the time you get to Israel if that's the case, when I see the rest of the world held to the same standard, particularly the Gulf States. Then we can talk about Israel.

There are already enough people agitating against Israel. Perhaps some other goals deserve the finite time people are willing to spend bitching about the way the world is.

Opposition to Israeli settlers is a correct moral position. It is somewhere between impractical and foolish ("useful idiot" comes to mind) with respect to the regional and religious politics and the movements to extinguish Israel. You can hand Israel's enemies that concession; they will take it and moderate themselves not a whit. They aren't merely pissed at Israeli settlers; they're pissed at Israel's existence. Israeli settler policy gives critics a moral straw to grasp, but no-one is obligated to pretend it is more than a rounding error in the comparative moral positions.

Israel has tried pretty much everything the world has asked of it. Maybe ask Egypt to take down it's wall and allow the Palestinians free movement and citizenship for the Palestinians that reside in Arab countries. While we are dreaming lets ask UAE to take responsibility for the RSF atrocities as well.

And Israel is a proxy target for The West.

It represents the "world order" of Jews, Bankers, Masons and that great devil Mustapha Kemal Atataturk, the man that brought down the Caliphate.

Perspective. To me its a rogue nuclear state that operates in its interest, which frequently does not align with ours. Its not an enemy. Its not a friend.

Israel is hardly a rogue state. It's a parliamentary democracy, human rights, and guaranteed voting rights.

Rogues states are: North Korea, Iran, Libya under Ghadaffi, Syria, etc.

Every state operates in its interests.

Israel is a friend, as much as any other westernized nation that has interests that sometimes diverge from ours. It is not a bastion of political or religious doctrines violently opposed to many of our fundamental political and social principles seeking to overthrow our way of life. Its fortress mentality and a lot of the things people claim to dislike about it are consequences of all the hate directed at it, including from people in Canada.

I'd rather have outposts of the west breaking down and diminishing medieval doctrines in the middle east than have outposts of medieval doctrines establishing themselves here.
