America has handed the rest of the 21st century to China. Crazy what 4 years can do.

I'm not convinced it's that bad yet, but America has definitely diminished their position in the world. The EU may step up and lead, we really can't predict the future very well. 4 years ago nobody would have guessed that America's position would be so diminished.

Their actions and foreign policy are not friendly to Canada’s interests, but they are rational and consistent.

Trade flows and geopolitical alignments don't shift quickly. Canada, Europe, Asian countries moving to China now won't just stop when Trump is no longer president.

In fact, the rapid global realignment to China is a testament to just how bad the Americans have screwed the pooch. Only a combined trade war and geopolitical animosity could have done this and lo and behold, it has.

Trade flows and geopolitical alignments don't shift quickly. Canada, Europe, Asian countries moving to China now won't just stop when Trump is no longer president.

If trade flows can shift fast enough to be complete before Trump is gone (after which all the effort expended has a very real prospect of being wasted), that's fast enough to shift back.
