B.C. Government (Conservative Majority), 2026-(NLT)2031

Of course, I would expect nothing less...

B.C.’s snap election held the day after 2020 class of MLAs secured pensions

By waiting until Oct. 24 to hold the B.C. snap provincial election, NDP Leader David Eby saved several of his party’s MLAs from losing their pensions.

Had the election been called sooner — and there was plenty of pressure for Eby to do so as the Conservative Party floundered — several outgoing MLAs would have received no pension.

Any member of the B.C. legislature first elected on Oct. 24, 2020, and re-elected in 2024 had their pensions vested on Oct. 23, 2026.

Bye, bye DRIPA...

What to expect from the new B.C. Conservative government

Party has promised to not raise taxes, scrap Massey Tunnel replacement and repeal DRIPA

The incoming B.C. Conservative government ran its campaign on promises to rein in B.C.'s ballooning deficit and reversing many of the B.C. NDP's policies over the last nine years.

According to the Conservatives' platform, the party plans to reduce the province's deficit to $10.8 billion by 2030. The party is also promising to freeze outside hiring, cut consultants and review spending across ministries to find billions in savings.

The problem with legislation like DRIPA is that it incentivizes bad behavior from toxic people.

Canadaland this morning interviewed an Alberta NDP Comms expert Zain Velji about the BC election. He got a little conspiracy crazy when describing the BC Cons as far right light. :ROFLMAO:

Rememebr to the left its:

I'm a good person because I'm a leftie; and I'm a leftie because I'm a good person. And anyone to my right is far right and a fascist bigot.

My highly educated cousin went on disability leave today to avoid being fired. There’s nothing wrong with her except she was an NDP appointee who eventually gained an ADM role and is probably the person most responsible for shutting down public access to parks, decommissioning logging roads, shutting down hiking trails, inventing so-called hunting grounds, resurrecting land claims from extinct native tribes (through the US), and generally thwarting any sort development in the Kootenays except for pot and the activist legal industry. A lifelong committed Marxist she turned to shit almost everything she touched, was fired upwards from almost every job and for 10 years straight she climbed higher and higher with the BC government. That is the type of thing the new government needs to get a handle on. I can’t imagine how many more people like her hold positions for example in healthcare, education and forestry but they all need to go, very quickly and without mercy. There are likely thousands or perhaps 10’s of thousands of them.

I take it that she's a non-swimmer given her opting out of the Marxist Group Grief Swim.

C'est dommage.

From where he sits in the political spectrum moving left at a high rate of speed that's what it would look like. Where people like him go wrong is failing to understand who is doing the moving.

By any chance did she every have anything to do with the port alberni steam engine?

Coles notes: The government took back the steam engine from the volunteers who restored it and brought it up to functioning again. The woman in charge of taking it back once sorted out failed to keep up on the paperwork and such even though it was her job (and being told exactly what to do by all the volunteers in this labour of love, as they didn’t want to see their efforts go to waste). The train lost it’s steam certs (which is very difficult to get back, basically have to rebuild it again) due to this and she went on stress leave and I believe was shuffled elsewhere to do damage someplace else.

I always laugh when people tell me how reasonable the Greens are…

They have their own internal battles for/ against extremist positions, they will never form government obviously as a result, and it bubbles into the light every once in awhile e.g.,

Sounds like Weaver had enough of their shit. He ran in Oak Bay for Centre BC. Too bad he lost.
