Informing the Army’s Future Structure - CAMO Discussion

Years ago, I did the train the trainer for the CNR-710G radio when they were introduced. Why the CAF didnt just continue with that radio is beyond me. The radios were solid, had a man pack for dismounted long range comms, had a plug and play vehicle mount. Instead the 10 we had got diverted to a single unit and the promised additional buy never came. Another example of already having a solution but something or someone gets in the way

Elbit has proprietary wave forms that dont play with non elbit radios. Its a huge issue in Latvia with some nations using them unable to speak to the rest of us.

Probably part of a random lease for the PRes which in no way should effect CNR systems for CA as they are deliberately unclass, low cost radios to fill a multi billion dollar and 30 year technology gap in our mounted/dismounted radio systems.

Man, I honestly think someone is going to come on here and suggest we buy Baofeng radios for the dismounted comms role. Which isn't surprising because there's people who think the Gripen is comparable to the F35.

There is a unclass dismounted radio project for the PRes, currently unfunded, and I imagine it will stay that way forever. Call me cynical but 17 years of hearing promises of kit to the reserves disappear in smoke make me believe when I see it on the armoury floor.
