Excellent point, perhaps it is proof that there is a reason why we train: so that when it's real, we can deal with it safely and effectively.

Warships are dangerous, old warships especially so. Fires happen on ships at sea, that is why we spend so much time and effort to train the crew in firefighting and damage control. None of this should come as a surprise to anyone who has ever been onboard the tanker before...

I think maybe you misunderstood those. As a starting point, people who are new to the military or this forum should listen to the senior member who have 20+ years of service, guaranteed they know what they are talking about and most new members do not, so talk less and listen more. Same thing...

Sounds mostly right, NOC will be no more after the last course in January, and OPME is ending as well, it is being replaced with correspondence courses called CFJODP - Canadian Forces Junior Officer Development Program.
