Reviving this one. Has some new protocol or equipment been adopted to reduce the risk during training exercises? I'm Interested in becoming a reserve gunner but not too keen on it if it involves a high risk of damage. I have already lost some hearing working with loud machinery in my field.
The DP1 courses appear to be offered as modules as well. does that mean you can take the one week course the first summer for example if you are not available for the entire 8 week period?
Anyone involved in this speciality? I feel like the technology has advanced a lot here so it could be an interesting specialty down the road. Curious if anyone has had some exposure to the tech or courses.

According to the reserve document I have, it seems to be 65 days in Borden over the summer. It seems like often there is a part time option available though so might be worthwhile to check with your unit.

How exactly do the QL courses work? After your initial trade training, is it simply the amount of courses you choose from the list below(Specialty/Advanced)? IE completing 6 courses on top of your initial training would have you qualified as a QL6A?

You're likely not allowed to get involved in some of the drills, but you could learn a thing or two from watching and getting mentally involved. Does your unit have any weight equipment? Could always work out as well.
