British Military Current Events

With a Royal Marine as First Sea Lord it's probably a recognition that they'll expand far beyond a Brigade in size ...

I think it already is with all those new specialized commandos. As well, 40, 42, and 45 abandoned a conventional infantry structure a few years back.

Healey and now Al Carns ( Armed Forces Minister) have resigned.

I’m not sure whose interests Starmer and their treasury are serving, but it’s not the British.

If there's 1 country that has fucked up more than us (and the US) over the decade+, its the Brits. Their house is truly on fire.

The one positive thing that I see in the UK on this issue and one or two others, is their Ministers do take a stand and will challenge the PM and resign rather than be the message boy. They don’t seem to protect the boss, unlike the political arm of the syndicates that run this country (and for the large part, replicated in its confederate provinces).

A Marine (Carns) leaves and a Para (Jarvis) arrives.

British forces intercept Russian shadow fleet tanker in the Channel

British armed forces boarded and detained the vessel Smyrtos, in '1st U.K.-led operation of its kind'

Intercepted a sanctioned Russian shadow fleet oil tanker in the English Channel on Sunday, leading for the first time an operation to disrupt the oil revenue that helps fund Russia's war in Ukraine.

The vessel Smyrtos, sailing under a Cameroon flag, was boarded by Royal Marine Commandos and National Crime Agency (NCA) officials in the early hours on Sunday, with support from Chinook helicopters and other aircraft, a frigate and a minehunter.

"This successful operation delivers yet another blow to Russia and reminds those fuelling Putin's war in Ukraine that we will not let them hide," U.K. Prime Minister Keir Starmer said in a post on X.
