Liberal (Minority/Majority) Government 2025 - ???

And it's official.

Canadians view China more favorably than the USA.

Up next, Russia.

And it's not just us.
From an American based charitable Research organization, Pew Research. Although Pew research is viewed as non partisan and reliable by some, not all trust it as a source of reliable research.

It is "not official", your grasping at straws.

"Pew Research Center surveyed 42,151 individuals from 36 countries from Feb. 8 to May 13. Margins of error ranged from 2.3 to 5.5 percentage points, based on the country."

So of the 42,151 from 36 countries polled, how many were Canadians? Hell, even if they were all from Canada, thats not near enough to say that represents Canadians as a whole.

Unless you have another pollster saying something different, it's official.

And even with the margin of error applied, it would STILL have China as more more favorable than America.

Becoming Conservative in your old age Mr Almost 40
You know I was railing against the immigration spike post covid from 2023-2024?

That's not a conservative position, it's a common sense position.

One research firm from the USA does not not make it "official". Did the Canadian government sanction this poll? We all know you have a rabid anti-American hate on (You have said it over and over again your feelings about MAGA and the USA and thus we can assume it goes beyond Trump).
One minor research poll done, amongst many nations, is really not something you should hope for.

If Pew research had said many Canadians were starting to favour Trump, you would not hesitate to call out their methodology in a heart beat. Its obvious confirmation bias on your part.

If you actually believe that many Canadians are warming up to China more than the USA, I think your really reaching into the depths of hopeful optimism here.

I like NASA. Even if I have certain feelings about America it's not like I'm going to say NASA didn't just go around the moon. Data is Data.

42k people is not a minor poll.

Data is data. You don't like it, tough, not my problem.

from 36 countries, 36. there was several polls done, read and comprehend the whole thing. Your clutching at straws.

How many of the 42,151 people polled over 36 nations were Canadians? You have no fucking clue, because CTV or Pew research doesn't list it.

Data, data, data, you scream that all you want. I would not rely on this at all. Your skipping over the many factors pointed out, refuse to see obvious factors that affect said data. What I see is your clutching with desperate hope to this and hoping it to be true.

It doesn't matter if I like or not, I think its very flawed and limited research.

42,000 people in 36 countries mean around 1,200 respondents per country. For a Canadian poll to be statistically relevant, 1,000 to 1,500 people would need to respond. Assuming 1,200 Canadians responded, it is statistically relevant, whether you like it or not….

1000-1500 Canadians may have said this? Accepting your math, no, lets double it, lets say it was 3000 Canadians. Yeah, I hardly accept that as representing the 41 million Canadians as a whole.

Doesn't matter if I like it or not.

In my OPINION, accepting the views of maybe 3,000 Canadians as representing 41 million Canadians is foolish at best.

At least our local Canadian political polls are based on small numbers yes, but also over periods of time. So I absolutely accept Canadians prefer Mark Carney as PM over Pierre Poilievre as PM because even though these pollsters only question a few hundred to maybe a few thousand, its also shows a trend week over week, month after month. So the numbers being polled end up being much higher. It also discounts outliers.

And of course, there is just getting out and talking to people. I don't know know anyone who has warmer feelinsg towards China than the USA, and believe, I am surrounded by some pretty severe TDS Liberal types.

It strikes me that polls can be seen through different lenses, or through red or blue coloured ones
Agreed. We all have biases or at the very least, emotions that can influence how we perceive polls.

On Canadian Political polling showing Carney doing way better than Poilievre, I am not happy about it, but I accept it as accurate.

The research poll posted by Altair from Pew research and shown on CTV, I don't accept as accurate. Too little, too many variables.

@Altair

Not to upset you but PM MC has hired an American, Maia Johnson as his newly created PMO position, Chief Operations Officer. I think Carney, while not thrilled with Trump, still trust Americans. ohh, and he has a house down there. Plus lots of investments. Just saying.

So he’s keeping an open objective mind, and dealing with people based on the history and record of their actions. Not an unreasonable approach.

why would that be upsetting? Just because Canada is having difficulties with the trump administration doesn't mean everything american is tainted.

Next poll of 2000 Canadians showing the CPC ahead of the LPC I'll make sure to dismiss out of hand.

Yeah, cool, I'll wait around tomorrow for the next poll of 41 million Canadians.

Every poll less than that is clearly too small a sample size.

What a joke.

In that case, why mention the other 41,000 people at all? Why not just present it as a poll of 1,200 Canadians?
