Ontario Government (Conservative majority), 2025-29

Coming up: 3 x byelections!

Let the running of the snakes begin!

Let's see if this makes any difference.

And just like that - people who are in Canada illegally and people only authorized to stay on a temporary basis, such as through student visas and work permits, are not eligible for social assistance in Ontario.

Funny how quickly things can happen, even in the summer time :) This from the info-machine:
... The province has amended regulations under the Ontario Works Act, 1997 and the Ontario Disability Support Program Act, 1997, to provide clarity on who is eligible for social assistance. Under the updated rules, the following individuals are not eligible for social assistance:
  • Individuals who are in Canada illegally; and
  • Individuals authorized to remain in Canada on a temporary basis, for example, those here with student visas, work permits or as visitors and tourists.
These changes take effect immediately to stop people who are not authorized to remain in Canada from receiving these financial supports, ensuring Ontario’s government-funded social assistance programs are reserved for people who meet the province’s eligibility requirements ...

I can only think someone will notice and do something about it, but as of right now if you go to the Ontario 511 traffic app, it's "Lake America".

EDIT: saw this in the comments. "If you go on the website it does say lake America , on the app it doesn't" I googled 'Ontario 511 app" but on my laptop.

My assumption is that development of the app was contracted out to a company that's either American or that leverages American datasets. If the app draws names from the US repository, then that's what you get.

Sovereignty also implies use of sovereign data (and sovereign data storage).

GREAT catch - even though the domain is registered with Gov't of Ontario ....
... makes ya kinda wonder where they get the base mapping information, right? ;) On my phone, same, same.

On the ON MNR map, it shows Lake Ontario/Lac Ontario:

Heh, heh, heh ....

The 511 map says its data set is Google Maps and yet on Google Maps its Lake Ontario.

Go figure.

:(

On that noticing part, check - we'll see how quickly the "review" will lead to fixing things :)

Hopefully, other provinces see this and follow suit. Many illegals are here strictly because they can make upper middle income without doing fuck all, except imposing on taxpayers. Stop paying them and they'll leave.
