Oh, she’s gonna have a really bad time at a conduct hearing for sure.

With that said, if a civilian NDed their firearm into a neighbour’s house there would almost certainly be a criminal charge. I struggle to understand why any fellow police officer who NDs into a neighbour’s house while cleaning their firearm oughtn’t be charged. If the officer wants to argue ineptitude and poor remedial training, fine, that can be explored at trial.

That’s why there is an unknown to me- this would have been reviewed for criminal and we don’t know why it didn’t do anything. It’s incredibly weird.

Abstract​

Women police officers report elevated symptoms of mental disorders when compared to men police officers. Researchers have indicated that the occupational experience of policing differs greatly among men and women. Indeed, police culture is characterized by hegemonic masculinity, which appears to negatively impact both men and women. The current study examined the contrast between the experiences of men and women police officers. Police officers (n = 17; 9 women) in Saskatchewan participated in semi-structured interviews. Thematic network analysis identified themes related to the experience of policing for both men and women police officers. There were six organizing themes identified in relation to the global theme of Gendered Experiences: (1) Discrimination; (2) Sexual Harassment; (3) Motherhood and Parental Leave; (4) Identity; (5) Stereotypically Feminine Attributes; and (6) Hegemonic Masculinity. Pervasive gender norms appear detrimental for both men and women police officers, as well as the communities they serve. The current results, coupled with the emerging disposition for progress expressed by police services, offer opportunities to develop tailored and focused interventions and policies to support police officers.

The accused family were chased out of the UAE due to their affiliation and support of the Muslim Brotherhood, which is a listed terrorist organization in that country. So of course he was admitted to Canada and hired as a copper in Toronto.

Unfortunately, it seems that there’s no shortage of stories about police officers behaving badly these days. And, unfortunately, we have yet another such story to report.

And it’s not simply a matter of cops acting rudely; this story is about cops breaking the law – that very same law they took an oath to uphold.

Jay Bannister, a former Toronto Police officer with 24 years of experience, now runs a website called MadLab Press. And on June 24, Jay happened upon a handful of London Police Service officers who had congregated at a Boston Pizza restaurant. And what he observed was incredibly disturbing – ranging from cops apparently drinking to excess to leaving their handguns unattended in a vehicle.

We sent the video link and 10 questions to the media relations department of the London Police Service. Our questions were as follows:

1. Is the transit van a police vehicle?

2. Were all the officers on or off duty at the time of filming?

3. When an officer is wearing any piece of a uniform – i.e., pants, shirt, gun – are they on duty?

4. Are officers allowed to drink alcohol while wearing parts of their issued uniforms?

5. Are officers allowed to carry their firearms to a funeral or any other event if they are not on duty?

6. Are officers allowed to leave their police issued gun inside an unoccupied vehicle while they drink alcohol at a bar?

7. Is open alcohol allowed in a vehicle while the occupants drink the alcohol?

8. Were any of the officers impaired that day after consuming alcohol?

9. What senior officers, whether Staff Sergeant, Sergeant or higher were present with the officers that day?

10. Now that the London Police Service is aware of this troubling footage, what does the service plan to do?

Within hours, we indeed received a written statement from none other than London Police Chief @LPSThaiTruong. It read:

“Late this afternoon, I was made aware of a video that raises concerns regarding the conduct of some members of our service. The video shows those members leaving a restaurant and entering an unmarked police vehicle, with alcohol visible inside. The video shows a service-issued firearm stored in circumstances that raise concerns. The incident occurred in Toronto on June 24, 2026, following a police funeral.

As Chief of Police, I have personally viewed the video and have taken immediate action. I have directed that the matter be reported to the Toronto Police Service for investigation into the circumstances involving the handling and storage of the police firearm. At the conclusion of the criminal investigation, the overall conduct of the members involved will be investigated pursuant to the provisions of the Community Safety and Policing Act.

Given the seriousness of the circumstances, one senior officer has been suspended with pay pending further investigation. At this stage of the investigation, the statutory criteria under the Community Safety and Policing Act that would permit me to suspend the officer without pay have not been met.

A suspension with pay should not be interpreted as minimizing the seriousness of the matter. It reflects the legal framework that governs the authority of a Chief of Police at this stage of the proceedings. This administrative measure is not a finding of criminal or professional misconduct.

Police officers are entrusted with significant authority and responsibilities. With that comes an expectation that we will conduct ourselves in a manner that maintains the confidence of the community we serve. Those expectations apply to every member of our Service and are especially important for those entrusted with leadership responsibilities.

At the same time, every member is entitled to a fair and impartial process. These investigations will establish all of the relevant facts, and I will not prejudge their outcome.

As Chief of Police, when information comes to my attention that raises serious concerns about the conduct of our members, I have a responsibility to act fairly, decisively and in accordance with the law.
