    load carriage

Take a big breather.  NDHQ QM stores is responsible for kitting 33 Bde units as well as the armd unit in Hull - so they need the field stuff.  Plus, there are a lot of NDHQ people sent out on overseas tours of whatever duration who need to be outfitted.  Believe me, those who don't need the...

    Some new JTF2 Pics

Leaving aside the question of "illegal" or "legal" (which, in a warzone get kind of confused at times anyways), getting captured by the enemy while wearing their uniform will have you treated as a spy instead of a legitimate combatant and you can forget the Geneva convention pretty much...

Will we be an Army that can see all but do nothing about it?

It might deal with some, but not all situations.  Remember, unless you duplicate the teams operating the CPs, if your primary goes up in a flash of light, you lose your "first string".  Also, your backup CP might not be close up enough to have contact with the leading troops or might be on the...

Will we be an Army that can see all but do nothing about it?

We already have that capability.   When I commanded a recce sqn, I had two CPs, one run by the BC and one by the Ops NCO, which were equipped with the same radios, maps, etc (if not always the same vehicle   :-\).   Granted, this was mostly because we needed to leap-frog the CPs to maintain...

    RCR red sash

I believe you have your Reichs a bit off - The 1st Reich was the Holy Roman Empire The 2nd Reich was the one proclaimed by Kaiser Wilhelm 1st at Versailles in 1871 when, after kicking French ass, Otto von Bismarck had him crowned (before that, he was merely King of Prussia) - it came crashing...

MOZART: MOC to MOSID (Merged Topics)

You got it.  "U" means Untrained.  Just about every officer's an "A" after being MOC trained, but some MOCs have sub-specialities and you will see other letters of the alphabet.

    Ouch...

I find Anne Coulter quite amusing, but to take her seriously on anything would be giving her nut-bar point of view too much credibility.  Just like Carolyn "They're all morons" Parrish  :blotto:

U.S. Military Deserters in Canada Megathread

I sent him something a little more pungent, but with the same general idea.  Maybe if enough of us do it, he'll get the message that he's unwanted here by everyone other than the left-lib media and their followers - who don't have the brains to pour piss out of a boot anyways.

    NDHQ Clothing Stores Holiday Schedule

This week's CFSU(O) Routine Orders don't mention any clothing stores closure during the holidays.  Normal opening hours are 07:30 to 15:30.  I've always found them to be good at returning calls & scheduling appointments.  BTW, you will need to schedule an appointment for kitting-out.  I don't...

    Pierre Burtons Death?

He was in for 10 years, including his RMC time.  I can't remember what his branch was.

    Pierre Burtons Death?

Desmond Morton and JL Granatstein are excellent Canadian historians (as opposed to writers) who wrote some marvellous books on the Canadian military.  Both served in the Army during the 50s and 60s.

Comparing the Regiments (PPCLI, RCR, and R22eR) and thier bases

Of course, what you really need to do is ask a VanDoo about the differences between the PPCLI and the RCR - that way you'll get an unbiased opinion...   :soldier: :tank:

Comparing the Regiments (PPCLI, RCR, and R22eR) and thier bases

Time button up the turret and skedaddle out of the impact zone - this ought to be fun  :blotto:

U.S. Military Deserters in Canada Megathread

As long as he eventually gets to prove his committment to his personal convictions (whatever they are) in an appropriate place like Leavenworth, and not befouling Canadian soil, I'm happy. ;D

    Canadian Armoured Cavalry

Excellent dissertation.  Glad to see I'm not the only black hat heretic thinking "Cavalry" and living under the threat of exorcism by the MBT crowd. A little massaging and it would make a good submission to the Canadian Military Journal - think about it.

U.S. Military Deserters in Canada Megathread

I simply can't believe that Canada, as a responsible country, is actually harbouring a deserter from the army of our closest ally - and allowing him this travesty of a refugee hearing (which is done before political appointees - Liberal political appointees).  We should have arrested his ass the...

    "Sergeant Major" and CWO Appointments

Go the whole hog: tie pulled loose, beret pushed to the back of the head and tunic unbuttoned. :gunner: :fifty:

    "Sergeant Major" and CWO Appointments

You go ahead and do it.  I'll stick to the traditional titles.  I was reminded in a rather unmistakable manner twenty-odd years ago that the power of the RSM (be it unit, formation or command) goes beyond what us mere mortal officers can aspire to, and the lesson has stuck  :salute:

    "Sergeant Major" and CWO Appointments

You may contend all you like, but tradition throughout the Commonwealth is against you.  By tradition, the RSM is the senior non-commissioned appointment in a battalion-sized unit or above.  If the term RSM irks you, call him/her Brigade Sergeant-Major, but please leave abominations such as Bde...

    Regiment de Hull

Generally Friday to Sunday.  We are part of 34 Bde, which is headquartered in Montreal and therefore in LFQA.  That means yes, we normally train with LFQA units, although it isn't unknown for us to sometimes play with 33 Bde (LFCA) units.
