    Wearing Uniform in Public (merged)

I would consider only the travel from the gym to the unit as "proceeding to or from their place of duty".

    Wearing Uniform in Public (merged)

I do that exact thing every morning. You're not carrying anything more if you head to the gym in your gym outfit, then change. From the dress regs (http://www.cmp-cpm.forces.gc.ca/dhh-dhp/pub/ins-265/index-eng.asp): "19. “On duty”. As a general rule, for purposes of dress and appearance, a...

    Wearing Uniform in Public (merged)

I'm not quite sure I see the reason for wearing the uniform to the gym. Why can't you just wear your gym clothes to the gym, shower then change into your uniform?

    The Great Gun Control Debate

Here's a post from a real firearms lawyer that is frequently on Reddit: "Okay, so I have been away most of the day, which means that my commentary on the new firearms bill is a little late. But, here goes. Minor stuff: * It incorporates the language used in the Criminal Code for definitions...

    The Great Gun Control Debate

Yeah, I am obviously not open carry friendly. I see people suggesting it as a great thing but then realise how many of those people don't have constant weapon handling drills that would make them safe. Combat experience wasn't the good term to use.

    The Great Gun Control Debate

Yeah, those are good points. The amount of people that think they know the laws vs people that do (I had to explain to a local Calgary police officer how legal it was for the guy to have a C8 in his vehicle was after the cop had his rifle stolen) is scary.

    The Great Gun Control Debate

I think that's the feeling I got from the post that mentioned them. One of the problems in Canada is all the different types of gun owners. You have the guy that has zero combat experience suggesting open carry is a great idea then the next guy that is happy with taking his rifles to a range but...

    The Great Gun Control Debate

My reddit forum reading says there were people from CCFR(?) and another gun friendly group there. I am not sure what their participation was but do recall seeing that they went.

    Wearing Uniform in Public (merged)

What Brihard said. Also, remember that you represent the whole of the Canadian Armed Forces while in uniform and it you wear it badly, it reflects on the military. That being said, if you are confident enough on how to wear it and wear it properly, there are no issues. You might want to search...

    The Great Gun Control Debate

Not sure if you've been tracking but they have/are going to change the definition of "crime guns" which should skew the results of future stats in regards to guns related to crimes.

    The Great Gun Control Debate

Yeah. that's one thing I noticed as well. You're trying to claim this is a National event? I mean Quebec is recognized as a nation so maybe that's who they were aiming this at? They're worried about that new legislation with registration and serial numbers, I can totally understand that. Go on...

    The Great Gun Control Debate

So, how about that proposed protest in Montreal at the memorial for the PolyTech murders? Not a bright move by whoever planned it.

CAF Banking and Financial health [merged]

Let's not forget that the Bank of Montreal is now our DND banking group and they offer some pretty sweet deals. We had them come in to work recently to brief us on things. The Mortgage rate we were quoted was a good .5% lower than others. They have free options as well including e-transfers...

because with all the OJT spare officers, not one has been put on that kind of task. The same goes for DAOD/CFAO, etc. Someone asked me about swim tests the other day. I challenge you to go find details about it. Hint: start in 381 training safety and go from there.

Haha, trying not to say it was a white dude.  Also, highly unlikely it was an AK.  Probably a CZ 858
