    ATIS Tech cap badge.

ATIS techs are part of the "communications and electronics branch" and wear the Communications and electronics (aka Signals) cap badge. also, ATIS techs are part of the air element and don't have corps designations and thus wear "Canada" on their slip on ranks.  ( in contrast, the army trades...

BMQ / BMOQ - Personal Electronics during course [MERGED]

your very bold statement WRT cell phones (and other portable electronic devices) never leading to an ambush is information I highly doubt you are privy to.  Trust me, if something like that ever happened... you will never hear about it. Other than a random reiteration of acceptable use policy.

I cant recall any of the former Sig OPs who were assigned IST that are bugging to switch to core. I do however, know more than just a few LCIS techs who either were assigned IST or who wanted IST ( and have to submit a plar) who have now changed their minds for one reason or another.  I...

Army Communication & Information Systems Specialists (Sig Op, Lineman and LCIS Amalgamation)

We has a Mes managers briefing last week.  Still a lot of unanswered questions.  Although they seem to have figured out how to top off the electronics training missed by not doing a full POET. They are going to purchase CDs ( at $1500 a lisence  ) that members can do on their spare time at...

Daily PT on Basic Para Course - What to expect; How to prepare.

They allocate 15 training days, but the last 5 days are J stage ( jump stage) where you complete 6 jumps. My course did our 6 jumps in 2 days, then used the remainder to lick our wounds, admin etc. As for PT, there is none scheduled during J stage. Friday afternoon before J stage is reserved...

Units are protecting members pay. IE.  JSR in kingston is depositing the missing amount as a misc deposit directly into to members bank account until such a time as the clerical error is sorted out. So, before deciding Christmas is cancelled this year. See your CoC, or clerk ( as applicable ) .

    BFT for CIC Officers.

Can that be true ?  If it was, then I think that a good chunk of the CIC would be receiving their walking papers.

Volunteer firefighters in Reg Force (merged)

Obviously not an ethical dilemma to you Container.  I do respect that each person will differ in their personal view. I do not however, appreciate your "down your throat" connontation in your reply.  Something this forum is seeing more and more of unfortunatly. I had this conversation with one...

Volunteer firefighters in Reg Force (merged)

I would like to start a discussion regarding Reg Force members who are volunteer firefighters within their communities. Now, just to be clear, I believe these members are doing a great service to their communities.  Not all areas can have permanent paid fire services, and without volunteer...

    CF firefighters...were they in Somalia???

Just take a look at his chest next time you are in DEU... Nov 11th sounds like a good date. Or, look in monitor mass. They list postings, tours and decorations etc. edit....  re-reading your post, I now assume you are now both civilians.  If you really thinks this guy is full of it, then call...

    Wings

Fact. The day you clear into a unit in designated jump position you put up your "white" leaf. I know many, many people who have been in DEU ( or back in the day, jump smock) within days of clearing in who are wearing the white leaf. ( even though, they have yet to do their 7th jump ! )

JTFA air wing orders of dress

anyone else notice lately the staggering variances of dress the Air Wing pers are walking around in?  ( I dont want to say airforce, as army guys attached to the air wing are suffering from the same disease) I have noticed a lot of them wearing 1.  OTW shirts with standard arid pants.  2. OTW...

Room and board while at BMQ

Is the child yours? If so, I believe you don't have to wait a year before you are entitled to common law benefits if you have a child with a person. IE..  once the child is born, and you are living as a family you are declared common law.  ( even if that's in your moms basement)

Grounding Cable Improvised from Extension Cord

Probably not a good idea ( and against code ) to use an extension cord for a purpose other than its design. Also....You have to remember  that a standard 3 prong electrical extension cord is 12-3-G, meaning 12 gauge ground and 3 wire.  12 gauge ground is only rated for 20 amp circuits.  As...

    Looking for a 522 speaker

Sure, you loaded it...But, by altering the vehicle layout in direct violation of the CLS directive regarding comms suite modifications  (do you think this was issued just to make your life difficult ? ) you may have compromised the integrity of the crytpo. (trust me on this one) So, I ask...

    Looking for a 522 speaker

A fine example of just because you can "rig something up" it doesn't make it right. If you are going to (or did for 3 months) run a speaker off your faceplate you shouldn't worry about loading that silly crypto stuff either.

I cannot tell you how many times in my career I have been handed a piece of kit to figure out/administer/troubleshoot/fix.  The skills and troubleshooting methodology learned in POET are called upon CONSTANTLY.  I have to tell you, I also HATE the "change cards in a radio" definition of LCIS...
