A Coy 3 PPCLI being disolved

The LIB's are not losing one of their companies.  With the presented "facts", it appears that this is only a temporary solution to an upcoming "problem".  When we deployed on Op Apollo, Oscar company was used to fill the gaps within the rest of the Battalion.  For the most part, the augmenties...

    Life as an Infantry Soldier?

I totally agree with you Ex Coelis, exactly what I was thinking but was too tired to express.  Too often this profession is treated simply as a job and when the going gets tough, the wanna-be's shut'er down.  I wish I could say that it will get better.....fact is that it keeps getting worse...

    Life as an Infantry Soldier?

There's nothing wrong with the infantry....Take's a while to get used to though.   If you're a single person there are a lot less worries.   The money is good and the people skills that you learn are excellent for the future, in and out of the job.      Like most people, I'm tired of...

Four things you dont want to hear...

I'm surprised nobody's mentioned this one yet...."You're on your own time now" From an MOI...."That should work...does that look ok to you?" Or for those who might be from 3RCR...."We're going to be busy for the next year" (when will we stop hearing this, it's not even a suprise anymore!)

What to wear when reporting to a new base?

Like Parasoldier said, wear combats.  I've never seen anyone clear in wearing DEU's, and I personally would never do it either.  Don't over-complicate!

A year ago...seems like just yesterday.  One of the many days that I will never forget.  Welcome to the board "Parasoldier", good to see you around...

    Your pick for MND

Totally true for when Cretien was the boss, all he was concerned about was holding onto his power for as long as he could by keeping his ministers in the line of fire and not himself.

    Your pick for MND

I voted for John McCallum because when he was the Minister previously, he did the job right.  Sure, he had no military background, and he made some mistakes along the way, but who doesn't?  He didn't try to sugar-coat the state of affairs that the military is in, he actually researched his...

    Just wondering

Those aren't rules for this site, just an example from the Airborne Regiment.  More of an idea for the new guys, you know if you're a new guy or not... Basicly, 1.  do some research before you ask a question,  2.  Once you've defined what you really want to ask, post your question,  3.  With...

    Just wondering

Enough with the pissing contest.   If new posters keep getting slammed for stupid reasons this site will find that less people will visit.   Have a little respect for everone else, along with a good attitude and some tact.   Some of you might know these rules from the past: 1.   First year...

    PSW Course Content?

A little update, got a little bit of mis-information back there... For the Reserves, it will remain the PLQ(L) + the DP2B to qualify for promotion to MCpl (+DP2A(PSWQ) of course) For the Regular Infantry, it will soon be the PLQ(infantry) course to be qualified to MCpl(essentially the old ISCC)...

    C7 sights: Optical & Iron

I knew it was something like that!   That's why the CSM always took a half hour to sort me out before every patrol???!!!   And you knew this the whole time?   I guess I must have been the running joke of the tour, I can't believe that I was so blind.....how could I have missed that......this...

    PSW Course Content?

For all of you that are infantry, a heads up..... The ISCC will be back in 2005.  PLQ, for us....the Infantry, will be scrapped...along with the present DP2B.  If you have the PLQ, but haven't gotten the DP2B yet, you had better get on the phone, because the way this army is, you WILL have to...

    C7 sights: Optical & Iron

It is an iron sight.   All the members(rifleman) of the Parachute Company (3RCR) are issued one.   We weren't allowed to use them in Afghanistan regardless of preference or not.   In the RCR kitlist, the iron sight is for back-up only.   Sometimes...well a lot of the time, we're our own worst...

The Canadian Airborne Regiment, 1968-1995 (merged)

I was presented my US wings while attached to JRTC in Louisiana.   Everyone who received their wings that day were in the "Blood Wings" fashion.   It's nothing really, but not for the squeamish.   We had one guy (no names) who's wings didn't go in the first time, so they lined them up and hit'em...
