Posting Policy-Out of Canada (OUTCAN) [MERGED]

Thanks Pusser, those were what I was referring to. I looked up the site index at Statcan which determines the max entitlement per location, so I know how complicated they are... Thank you for putting things into perspective. May I ask where you were in married quarters?

    Gonna be a daddy!

Congratulations to all of you! Being a dad is the greatest thing ever. And remember, as horrible as the next few weeks may feel like, eventually you'll look back on those first few weeks with nostalgy... so enjoy them while you can :) Congrats again!

Posting Policy-Out of Canada (OUTCAN) [MERGED]

Thank you both. Pretty much what I thought, i.e. same policy for all OUTCAN postings. Nice to confirm though.

Posting Policy-Out of Canada (OUTCAN) [MERGED]

Initial disclaimer: there may be threads on this topic around, but since I tried searching and couldn`t come up with anything. Simple question: when posted to the US, do members normally purchase a residence, are they assigned military housing  on or near base or do they rent off the economy? I...

Need for a new Army dress uniform (Split from: Return To Old Army Officer Rank Insignia)

Yes but why do you all think that MARINES wear blue? Because historically there is a naval connection... not so with Canadian Army/Land Command. I don't think a blue dress uniform would make sense.

    Recent Warfare Technologies

I remember listening with fascination to one of my philosophy professors lecturing on epistemology and the ancient Greeks' take on science vs technology. To them, science was merely the observation of nature and the decyphering of its laws. Technology was a completely different beast. It built...

In the B-movie style, nothing beats "Deadly Prey": http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/deadly_prey/ Less bad, but enticing, Night of the Lepus. Gotta love it...

Home Equity Assistance & "Military Families Pushed to Financial Ruin" (Merge)

captloadie: I disagree with you. PMQ's and military housing are a fundamental part of not only military administration, but lifestyle, in most militaries of the western world. Their reason for being is to provide flexibility which the market may not be able to provide. I am sorry, but if you...

Online "Robin Sage" Fools High-level Military, IT, Int types

I would agree entirely with you Michael. The net lets you find a good target, then get to know them. Example? If someone posts daily something about hating his job and how much everyone's passing him over for promotion, then that is a good prospect for recruiting. Throw in a few postings about...

report: CSIS agents to learn Arabic overseas

Well, from a friend over there, it's understood that if you accept such an opportunity, the bulk of your career will be spent on Arab affairs. Don't expect to go there and come back to chinesse CI. As for a "time in" clause, I do not think so no.

What's wrong with that? I love duck and goose. Sorry, I couldn't resist... P.s.: it's foul

report: CSIS agents to learn Arabic overseas

Well, from where I sit, many manage to do the job extraordinarily well without spending 3 years in-country spending half a mil. Keep in mind, that money could also be spent on more personnel.

report: CSIS agents to learn Arabic overseas

I do get that. However... many other people work in areas where knowledge of culture, habits, customs and so on will else, i.e. at DFAIT or CSE. But people at DFAIT still take their courses here. As for the network, well I'm ready to bet anything that the courses will take place in a...
